Getting one from Amazon on Fri.  First new console in a while since I skipped Wii U and am skipping Xbone.  Pretty much all Sony & PC at this point as I lent a friend my Wii a year ago and will be unplugging my X360 to make room for the PS4.  So will have PS2, PS3, PS4 hooked up & HTPC for entertainment systems (+ 3DS/PSP/Vita).

yeah, at first 500gb seemed adequate for the first few years.  now with games averaging at 35 gigs with mandatory installations, it's as bad as the 60 gig PS3.

84 gigs for applications, though.  I wonder if a chunk of that is that included double fine game giantbomb keeps talking about.

You might not be able to.

That hard drive space picture on the last page is slightly misleading.  You have 408 gigs of free space.  That 84 gig application folder holds three retail games.  So however large the playroom is, it looks like it's part of that ~90 gig OS chunk.

And parts of playroom might work without the camera.  I read that "motion" typing is an option without the camera (like typing on the wii where you move a cursor around).

The same way PS3 does. When you check trophies... it syncs. Except Vita is pretty quick in comparison to PS3's slog ass.

Forcing me to make several updates to a game when I want to play it, which could take an hour at times, a weird UI (wanna play a movie off a thumb drive? MAKE SURE YOU PRESS TRIANGLE INSTEAD OF X). Individually, its not a big deal, but XMB just had so many fucking annoying traits to it. Playing a game was just so much easier on 360.

I really hope that doesn't happen again.

it goes through similar process but it doesn't obstruct the screen while doing it so you can be checking on other stuff or even view the trophies you currently earned, plus its way faster (at least mine is).

Add that auto-sync stuff (which is apparently free for all PS4 users now) and it does alright.

if we're assuming PS4 will have Vita features, it has a better solution to updating games short of automatically updating games in the background like Steam.  Vita tells you when there's a update and you can download it without launching the game.  it's always annoying when I launch a game and get booted from xbl for a new update.

edit/tangent:
man, steam is awesome.  I take it for granted.  it automatically backs up my saves online so I can easily switch between laptop and desktop.  a ton of stuff I want for these console interfaces exist on steam, like having your purchased but uninstalled games in one list.  PS3 and 360 lump every purchase into your download list along with everything else, hidden away in the accounts menus.  That's a reason I rarely uninstall games on PS3/360; I'll forget about owning Aegis Wing or Trash Panic.
