Heh, you guys were the reasons why old import/jrpg threads were interesting to read. It's fair to say that I learned a lot just from reading for a while. Makes me wish I'd decided to register for gaf a few years earlier.

Jesus Christ, in The Sims, there's like zero African type hair, and it's a bloody game about character creation. Yeah I miss those people too. I don't really know if I was ever really part of that 'clique' because even though I mainly post in RPG threads I always kept a low profile on that site. Still I post on the GAF RPG threads because there's not really that many people on the bore into the same kinds of games as me... demi, magus and Segata and maybe a few others.

I have to say, Nintendo have MASTERED the Pixar look. Like, Link Between Worlds looked ugly in pics, but when you're playing it, holyyyyyy shit. It's a beaut. 60 fps 3d, jesus christ.

Then Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3d World look absolutely beautiful. It's so nice to see Nintendo games with PRODUCTION VALUES again.

It's so odd because during GC days people always praised GC for its reflections and graphic capability and Nintendo's pedigree for beautiful art. I think they've still got it.

Same with New Leaf. I was shocked how good that game looked at release since I hadn't really followed it and only saw a couple jaggy JPEG screenshots.

Pokemon X/Y look kind meh in the overworld but the Pokemon models look fantastic. The cel-shading is so good and sprite-like, way better than every previous attempt at making them 3D models.
