I hate the upvote system because it creates a giant echo chamber, moreso than regular forums.  Also the bigger a subreddit gets the shittier it becomes (RIP /r/dota2 )

There are some great 'hidden' subreddits though (/r/askhistorians )

i mean, to me it was always the kind of limp, insipid internet collectivism. a toothless wryness which distils humanity into a self congratulatory gloop of memes, shit puns and painfully inoffensive humour.

but to others, reddit is personified as a breeding ground for groups of insular thinking nutjobs to double down on their own unhealthy prejudices and misconceptions.

it's probably too ubiquitous at this point for anything so specific to adequately describe it. even as a stereotype.

4chan owns but I am warming to Reddit. I still hate the layout but I downloaded this firefox extension and it makes it a little bit better. There is some ok discussion in Truegaming and I can get news from Games instead of GAF. Fuck GAF, man. I am pretty much done with that place now.

Usually I stick to Games at SA but SA is down and has been for a few days now Shit better not be gone forever. Their SJW shit was annoying but I liked some of the threads there.

/r/games and /r/gaming is just as fucking awful as GAF,

@Pickles: /r/subredditdrama is amazing. I don't really care for /r/thebluepill since it's pretty much "ShitRedditSays" just in another cloth.

Honestly:

-The default layout is fine. The problem is the white is too bright which breaks the "nesting line" to show which comment goes to which parent (but you can get around this by using the "permalink" which nests the comments under the one comment they're replying to) it takes about an hour max but then you adjust
-The default subreddits are all terrible
-The minor subreddits can be good... provided they don't get large
-Only go to Reddit for the amateur porn. Otherwise don't bother.

Then again that last one could be replaced by /soc/ on 4chan, depending on shady-age-business finally being stamped out, I guess. Well, that and obviously photoshopped dicks.
