Why do I feel everyone down on Super Mario 3d World haven't played Super Mario 3d Land? And why should anyone take their opinions seriously on 3d World if they haven't?

True. Easy to feel that way.. the game was awesome.

I liked 3D Land, but it's probably best not to presume that it's universally loved, as it clearly isn't. And even among those that do enjoy it, it's probably not best to assume that everyone is on board with that as the vision for console Mario platformers.

Yes.  3D Land is excellent, but the point is that Nintendo created a certain expectation that 3D World doesn't live up to.  Like, the entire thing, and Wii U line up as a whole, comes off as creatively bankrupt.  For its blunders with the Gamecube, at least Nintendo took some chances back then.  To be fair, the 3DS is doing great and another story entirely.

And I'm sure 3D World will be great.  My main concern with its quality is the multiplayer.  When your game needs to accommodate four players, you end up with more space, larger platforms, etc.  Motorcycle versus a minivan.

Because most of us have played it and this isn't what we expected as the wiiu 3ds Mario game.

I'm sorry but I didn't know that wii games ran in 1,080P. Look at the bump mapping on Browser and look at the roundness of Mario's cap (clearly using tessellation). Wii game? Stop trolling.

Looks more like a N64 game actually

wow those shots look great!  thanks Malek!

btw, what is that weird blue star on the right side of that first shot?  it kind of looks like a cursor.  Is there some other peripheral required to play this new Wii U Mario game?  Nintendo just doesn't know when to quit!

Anyways, thanks again for the new pics of Super Mario 3D World for Wii U.

He's spot on. I like Nintendo directs, but this one had me really disappointed in how much they just focussed on going back to the well. The games will be great, but stump is also right that Nintendo's approach to the press is also hurting them.

The games I'm most eager to play on Wii U and 3DS in the coming months are the ones that Nintendo probably won't push heavily -- Mighty Switch Force 2 on 3DS (out today in US - in Europe on 27th), Cloudberry Kingdom, Wonderful 101 etc. They're gonna try and sell Wind Waker HD, a port of a game that sold between 3 and 4 million on a userbase 8.5x higher than Wii U. Mario 3D World might help, and MK8 etc in 2014, but I'm aghast that they're not doing more to try and sell this console to non-Nintendo fans in 2013. I'm sure that their friends at Ubisoft and co are equally appalled as well.

X gives me a God Eater vibe. A bunch of monster hunter style missions strung together with some half-assed story. I mean I love God Eater but its not what I (or I assume most Nintendo fans) want from a system headlining jrpg. Until Nintendo does more than show some boring trailers I'm not surprised people are ignoring it.

the only reason why people aren't ignoring it is because xenoblade turned out so well.  it's easy to remember that, and also easy to forget xenosaga/gears.

it's not like we have the sort of info to care about it other than it features big open area and big monster

oh wait i guess that's all some people need to be excited :derp

People are so weird. Obviously the only point where anyone should be excited about a game is after they've already finished it and then can accurately judge whether it's worth being excited about or not.

oh come on great rumbler,i'm not saying that but at least more info would be nice, for all we know the game might be a MMO/Monster hunter like (since of the multiple player shown on the trailer) which i'm pretty sure would make a lot of people throwing a fit

I'm excited because X has some really nice art/graphics, piloting mechs around a massive world ripe for exploring, giant monsters wandering around everywhere, and the developer's previous game was top-shelf excellent.

GEE GUYS I DON'T KNOW WHY ANYBODY WOULD BE EXCITED ABOUT THIS GAME.

of course, don't have a conversation with stump about apple, or the whole illusion falls apart.

Stump is an Apple fan?

It's weird how I don't pick up on this stuff if I like the poster. Like I never knew Y2Kev was apparently a Sony fanboy until I came here.

Wow, this is some pretty crazy stuff. Microsoft is certainly in damage control mode with Xbox One right now. They're trying to sway people back in their direction. Apparently, one of the ways they're trying to do so is by hitting up Nintendo's Best Buy E3 Experience Event.

Believe it or not, multiple reports are coming in stating that Microsoft employees are hitting up the line and asking people why they would bother with Wii U when Xbox One is right around the corner. As you can see in the image above, there is indeed someone wearing a Microsoft shirt approaching people in line. This is just a bit too much for me!
