I thought I missed the last train south from L.A. tonight so I called a car to pick me up and take me home. When I was shooting the shit with the driver they informed me that I'd merely missed the last commuter rail train of the day but not the last passenger rail train, then took me to Union Station so I could catch a train home.

Had to do some heavy tree trimming yesterday, talking 10 inch thick, 15+ feet long branches type shit. All I had to do it with was a 90 year old machete and a bow saw. Had to get a ladder to get into the trees and then stand on other branches to get them down. Took about 3 hours to get the biggest one down, probably got a mild concussion when I was pulling it from the ground to get it it off the fence and so it would fall off completely in my yard instead of over the fence or in the neighbor's yard (didn't work, it fell mostly in theirs because it was so long, which is why I had to cut it in the first place) and part of it snapped off, sending me flying backwards and smacking my head off the ground. Luckily it's been raining a lot so the ground was fairly soft, but it definitely rang my bell and I had a headache for hours afterwards.

Anyway I got the fucking thing down, struggled to get it all into my yard because it was both heavy as hell but also so long it was awkward as fuck to move, then had to go borrow an ax and chop it up so I could load it on the trailer so it at least would be out of the way to mow. I didn't finish chopping it up yesterday, but did get it all done and loaded up this morning in between bouts of rain. Lumberjacking fucking sucks, brehs, but I feel very manly and plan to use this whole situation as a "fuck y'all" to my family, multiple of whom have chain saws and pole saws and could have helped.

Wife had a business trip to Tokyo, enjoyed a quiet evening together.
Slept in a real bed for the first time in three weeks.
Had a hot shower for the first time in three weeks. Actually, showered last night and again this morning. It was pretty great.
Had a pleasant chat over coffee this morning, saw her off, got to work an hour earlier than normal and will be leaving for a game night with friends probably appropriately early as well.

Life is good.

Interviewed for a job last week nearer to home (Kansai). During my ride home from the interview, they texted me to let me know they want me to work there. Today, back in Tokyo, I received a verbal offer in line with my needs.

Super-duper stoked. I had not realized how badly I was stressing over my upcoming job.

I got a job interview lined up next week in a job that is in a fun environment and doesn't involve evening and weekend shifts. Exactly what I need.

Same pay, but a week more paid holiday and double the pension plan.

I found out yesterday that my 4G data limit trippled to 25 GB sometime recently.

It's technically unlimited but throttled after that, but still. A "heavy" month for me is like 7-8 GB.

Sorry I haven't been on for a while, I have been super busy.

Got my weight down to 197 as of this morning. That's from 237 on Jan 1 and about 250 last summer. I am thrilled with that. I'd love to be in the 180s.

Up to 12 pinball games in the house, 9 running, 3 projects.

Assistant Directed a play here in town that broke even, so that's not bad.

I got cast in our local production of La Cage aux Folles. I'm Albin, the lead of the show, and she is a 50 year old drag queen. If you've ever seen The Birdcage, it's basically that. I'm Nathan Lane.

We've done makeup tests.
