So No Man’s Sky isn’t flawless. It’s probably not for everyone. Then again, No Man’s Sky is exactly as described by the eccentric Sean Murray. If you’ve ever dreamed of being a cosmonaut, of starting with practically nothing and amassing a fortune, of becoming a notorious space pirate, or had any other of the countless sci-fi fantasies out there, this is probably the game for you. Now, those fantasies might not play out exactly as you’d have hoped in No Man’s Sky, but this is a game that begs those who put in the time to come back just once more and see what lies just over the horizon. If this game is right for you, you won’t be able to put the controller down.

"This game is awesome! Well, not for everyone...but if you want to be a space faring cosmonaut/space pirate this game is going to be great for you!....well, probably not in the way you'd hope for actually....But it's great! 9/10!"

I think I've just realised that Lime is actually an extremely well executed right wing troll. I'd been wondering since he/she pretended to know nothing of the refugee situation in Calais, but this particular post in this particular thread is just a little too perfect. I'm thinking well scripted long con.

Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.  There are a lot of people on GAF who know little or nothing about the world outside of what they read on the board.  The Calais Jungle doesn't get much if any discussion outside of Europe.

PS4 owners that have never touched a PC game are calling PC gamers lazy and babies for not wanting to go into game files and fix code/text themselves. They think tweaking means going into the graphic options instead of rewritting text in the game's files/having to do shit on your desktop just for that one game.

If I have to hear "but they worked so hard, you don't know" one more goddamn time, I'm going to scream. A ton of people work really hard on things. Peter Jackson nearly killed himself on The Hobbit movies. Jared Leto goes full method acting and has never once turned in a performance better than your average middle school production of Annie Oakley: The Meanest Bitch Out West. Everybody who has cranked out a game that didn't go through Greenlight has worked really hard, yet we've still got games like Daikatana and Destiny as end results.

Working like, totally hard and stuff, does not denote quality. Sean and Co worked hard on a game? Great. It still failed on nearly every conceivable level and given how much he's lied, I don't believe a single word about how it's totally going to get better. I wanted to have fun with this, but the first time I shot a rock and the rest of it just stood there floating in the mid air, a piece of me died. Surely the spaceship sequence would be better? Nope. Fly an unwieldy vehicle and maybe shoot some rocks. Find another planet, shoot some rocks.

What do you do in No Man's Sky? We finally have an answer. Mostly wish you were playing something better.

A network analyst on GAF is datamining the online packets of the PC game (already did for PS4, no information on player position is being sent to a server, so it's pretty certain there's no multiplayer at all), but he also found this :

Quote
I think launch may have just overstretched them (massively), to be honest. The NMS.exe file was compiled in the early hours of this morning, on the hostname of a desktop PC. It runs at barely 20fps on my PC (which is beefy, with a GTX 970 graphics card). It also crashed once already.

Maybe spend more time hyping your websites up and letting your clients wait for 4 years, becoming delusional about what they are actually going to get when you're done. When you finally release it to them they'll fall all over themselves to blame gamergate when the website ends up being mediocre.

That is the latest version though. Isn't the PS4 API based on it, too? Not surprising they would use its closest relative on PC.

I mean, it's obvious they don't have the resources. They must have skipped PC specific optimization so they could ship this before everybody loses interest.

Though, now that I re-read, the biggest WTF is OpenGL 4.5. :doge
That is the latest version though. Isn't the PS4 API based on it, too? Not surprising they would use its closest relative on PC.

I mean, it's obvious they don't have the resources. They must have skipped PC specific optimization so they could ship this before everybody loses interest.

Yes, but the minimum requirements don't need OpenGL 4.5, most of them didn't ship with that IIRC.

Apparently the game came in so raw on PC that the PS4's SDK Libraries are installed and required to run the game. So that's probably the 4.5 requirement that they forgot to tell everyone about.

The emulation scene shat a brick when they saw that and are busy ripping the game apart :doge

They need to delay it for another year and just remake the combat system from the ground up

Too bad there wasn't a "who cares" option, it might have caused some of them to cry.
