This is such bullshit. Tom Bombadil not being in the movie didn't receive much outrage was because Tom Bombadil is the most divisive character Tolkien's ever come up with, and that's being kind. Most LOTR enthusiasts I used to interact with hated Bombadil with a passion, so of course most fans would be fine with that omission, nevermind the fact that he doesn't drive the plot in any meaningful way. It'd be like saying that if George Lucas killed Jar Jar in the first scene of AOTC there'd be a massive fan backlash.

It's about numbers. Based on the dude's nondescript concept of people "returning to the jungle" or "natural state", I'd say the game parameters are...

All human beings must move to and live in tropical or subtropical rainforest biomes.
No cities, no factories and no agriculture allowed. 
No oil, no gas, no coal.  No generators or vehicles that rely upon any of those are allowed.
Guns, hand tools and canned foods from current civilization are ok but only what can be carried and you can't return to cities to retrieve more once you've left.

Billions of people tightly confined and simply existing for a short period of time- slashing, burning, consuming and turning the rivers into shit would be enough to obliterate the forested areas in short order.  Diseases couldn't kill the people fast enough to save the local ecosystem from the human scourge. And even with massive human casualties from disease and starvation in the first few months (including heavy violence and probably a lot of cannibalism), the local environments would be stripped bare with the people eventually destroying themselves as resources run out. The jungle isn't "winning" that scenario, and neither are the humans.

I say keep the people OUT of the jungle.

Oh for sure. We need to stop procreating for our own subsistence. Many of the current problems would disappear. The trend we're following means not even going 95% clean energy would save us in the long run. We need a worldwide birth control method. That's what we need, but not what we can have, as most societies are sustained by the younger generations (gl with that in my country, as the younger generations have a 42% unemployment rate KEK). A demography depression would collapse the retirement system of many countries. So in other words, we need to grow, and grow and grow. Don't politicians realize this? Ofc they do, but they're only there 4 years so why the fuck should they care. They also leave with their pockets full for a lifetime.

Oh, don't get me wrong--I'm only idealistically an anti-civilizationist (I dislike terms like primitivist and anarcho-primitivist because I think they're too strongly linked to focusing on green or environmental factors). I know the ship has sailed in correcting our problems. Pragmatically I'm some sort of ill-defined socialist (just about the opposite of my ideal) because I know it's the best angle on making my life comfortable during my time on this pit, plus the negative conditioning of being raised in a society has made it likely impossible for me to survive in a world like the one I dream of.

I -do- however spend a lot of time fantasizing about how I'd depopulate the earth to pre-Industrial Revolution levels (a number inspired by reading various flavors of primitivism) or pre-widespread adoption of irrigation levels (a number inspired by exposure to tourists in Las Vegas) or pre-origin of spoken language levels (a number inspired by being on the internet for like 25 years). Nowadays, many of these fantasies involve me communing with aliens that give me the power to reshape all aspects of the world to match my own desires.

If we directed science to research the correct subjects, perhaps we could replenish some of the planet's oil supply if we sacrificed 7 billion of the most worthless people. The roughly 10% of the estimated population elected to survive, probably already at least somewhat wealthy in some way, will then have a new source of revenue to keep the engine of society going. It will be good for demographics. The average person's net worth will be exceedingly high compared to today. Everyone will be happy.

This...I...Okay, look, it's a superhero blockbuster but even the nuance here is impossible to miss. The entire motivation of the film's plot centers around Diana's naive notion that the Germans are being controlled and manipulated by Ares into causing the war. All her information regarding the war comes from an American working for the British. Despite this, James T. Kirk and his new crew try to dissuade her of this notion regarding the war but she sticks with it until Ares himself tells her otherwise.

Which was her lamentation to Bruce in BvS and continued into this movie, that man will never get beyond violence and so she gave up on humanity until Superman showed up. (Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense since he's not human and kills millions of them in a tiff with people of his race and then there's the main humans she's newly familiar who are both paranoid and willing to destroy who knows how many to stop Superman...but I'm no Pretentious Hobo so....)

Sooo I have the chance to go to London on Aug. 23, short notice and I've always wanted to go.... but I don't have a passport yet. Lodging fees would be covered completely, so I would just have to pay for the flights. So I wanted some opinions...
