Yeah, appears to be the case.  Also may only be happening to people with shitty offbrand or bootleg micro SD cards.

No- it's affecting people not doing piracy/homebrew.  There are now reports of this hitting people playing off the cart and a report was just made of this happening with auto-save turned off:

It's a sad day in the puppy household. For the first time since before heart gold/soul silver a mainline pokemon game was released and we didn't buy it day one. Even the kids are like "eh, I've heard nothing great so far, so let's wait and see."

Mythical Pokemon get distributed. Since they axed the GTS (RIP non-random online trading, 2007-2019), paying attention to those are even more important now.

Otherwise they have issued patches to fix bugs. But that's it.

So maybe this exFAT thing gets solved, but I wouldn't expect DLC.

Sorry to disappoint, but I will be there for the midnight launch of Pokemon HOME at least.

They'll never see the Galarian sun (#ThanksGameFreak), but I can't let the 500+ 'mons I've built up over 15 years just rot (or rather fade away when Nintendo flips the lights off on Pokemon Bank.)

It's pretty fun so far.

40 minute or so into Sword and I nearly soft locked. Crashed 3 times the moment I got the pokedex. Turned off auto saves and was finally able to make progress on the 4th try after reading this sub.

Gotta be honest. This is not a good start.

2 locks/glitches for me.

One completely uncalibrated one of my Joycons from the console and wouldn't reconnect unless I quit the game.

The other just froze the controls and wouldn't respond despot the Switch home UI being fine.

Sounds great.

I played it extensively for a year but got sick of the same loop on repeat.

Did they add anything to make it more of a game, or is it the same catch pidgeys, wait 6 month, catch the gen 2 version of pidgeys, wait 6 months, catch the gen 3 pidgey etc?

It isn't. Outside of the SD card issue [which may or may not be caused by custom firmware or piracy or whatever] and not having every Pokemon ever [which may or may not be something you even care about], it's perfectly fine. Yeah, there's a glitch here and a hiccup there and whatever, but it's a fun, colorful Pokemon game from what I've played so far.
