Trump Kicks Off His 2020 Reelection Campaign on Saturday
The president is taking the permanent campaign to new levels with a political rally in Florida—the latest sign that he’s already planning for a second term.

Thank fuck. More campaigning.

RE: Muslim ban

Wasnt the Trump camp claiming that time was of the utmost essence?

That every hour delay resulted in millions of terrorists pouring in?

That the admin had intelligence the ban was needed immediately?

Funny how they've forgotten to fix it. Didnt we all expect a revised EO this past Monday?

Or the administration knew the EO would get shot down in court therefore relieving them of any responsibility if there was an attack. Now they can just say, 'hey we tried'.

How the fuck does Puzder not clear the bar but DeVos was never in any real danger?!

Her spouse didn't go on Oprah back in the day and talk about being abused.

Seriously. The Oprah factor strikes once again.

Half the administration wants to ban brown people, not give a damn about any attack.

Its crazy how easy it would be to make the EO legal

-Allow green card holders in
-Actually have a coordinated release
-Throw in some non-muslim countries with a history of violence. Simply make an excel list with country name and number of visa requests. Ban the bottom 10.

Gabon, Rwanda, The Gambia and Myanmar. Not a muslim ban!

Given how hard it backfired, seriously doubt that.

https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-02-16/trump-s-f-35-calls-came-with-a-surprise-rival-ceo-was-listening

Quote
Trump, who has repeatedly criticized the $379 billion F-35 program as “out of control,” made the highly unusual calls to Lieutenant General Chris Bogdan on Jan. 9 and Jan. 17. Muilenburg, whose company makes a fighter jet Trump has suggested might be an alternative to the F-35, was in the president-elect’s New York office for a meeting during the second call. He appeared caught off-guard but was able to listen in on the call, according to two people familiar with the calls, who asked to remain anonymous discussing sensitive information.

Just watched this shit at work live and some people wandered over by chance just watching it confused.
That was like some masterful dark comedy shit that just went down. All it needed was an ass to ass scene and it would have beaten out Requiem For a Dream for depressing, dark mood coming away from it.

Every time I end up agreeing with a Fox News anchor, I feel a step closer to losing my mind.

My retired lobbyist uncle is still referencing Breitbart links and said he likes Milo and Tucker. We had just started to have rational conversations again, now this.

Shep Smith is the best guy Fox News has.

As far as Trump being Trump goes, I'm pretty sure his voters like him calling out the media more so than any truth. Any issues he has in his cabinet and Russian ties won't be something they care about unless he gets caught on tape sucking off Putin.

Yeah his base seems to be all in on Trump in a way I didn't think would persist when the cracks started coming.

Not to be all  :doge   :gddr5 and shit because its only been a few weeks, but reading some of the message boards I used to glance over that were once a bit far right but still rational enough, and seeing some of the rhetoric coming from his supporters and right-wing media all over, it just makes me glad Trump is incompetent.

Lots seem ready, giddy even, at the idea of purging the intelligence community, suppressing the press, eliminating checks and balances, rationalizing only loyalists holding positions in government, and handing Trump as much power as he wants.

All because of this bizarro narrative they have bought into where Trump is this white knight truth teller in a sea of lies trying to purge Washington of corruption and fighting for them. In a battle for America's soul. Because liberals, the media, BLM, Democrats, establishment Republicans, globalists, and Obama have done so much damage and poisoned so many institutions that extreme measures are necessary. That any attack on Trump is just proof of their points and fuel for why Trump needs to go even harder.

I sort of live in Trump country in Louisiana, not that I am some expert or some shit but I can't avoid interacting with Trump supporters on almost a daily basis. White, work in business, I fit the stereotype.

I can't say with confidence the breakdown, but i think you are right and they are more then I or you assumed. At least a lot more that casually subscribe to the same narratives.

I think you have the Trumpkins that are like I said, and then you move down the line to the casual supporters. That watch their Fox News or have their right-wing Facebook feed and friends that parrot Breit Bart or whatever, and while they aren't out cheering for Trump to "shut the media down!" and "drain the swamp by purging the Obama intelligence community." They just passively feel fine about anything he does but don't pay too much attention overall. They just trust the right and despise the left at this point. To the point that an authoritarian doesn't register as beyond the pale to them.

My optimism is that like with Bush, after the honeymoon period is over and Trump keeps fucking up, the casuals will turn on him a bit. At least enough that they don't show up to vote in large enough numbers. Sort of a Hillary effect.

I give Shep about 6 months
People have been saying this for the last 60 years he's been on the air. He's the highest paid person at Fox after O'Reilly. (Hannity's total annual income is higher but that accounts for his radio show, etc. Fox itself pays him a lot less.)

Despite hosting an afternoon show, Shep's actual positions are all kinds of managing editor type ones within the actual news departments, he's not really paid to be a talking head like O'Reilly, Kelly, Chris Wallace, Matt Lauer, etc.
