Speaking of Fox, I thought it funny that rather than simply do what seemed most logical and slide Hannity back to his old 9pm slot after Megyn Kelly left they instead rescued Tucker from Fox and Friends Weekend and gave him their second best hour. :lol

Shep being passive-aggressive during Glenn Beck's heyday on Fox was amazing.

I give Shep about 6 months
People have been saying this for the last 60 years he's been on the air. He's the highest paid person at Fox after O'Reilly. (Hannity's total annual income is higher but that accounts for his radio show, etc. Fox itself pays him a lot less.)

Despite hosting an afternoon show, Shep's actual positions are all kinds of managing editor type ones within the actual news departments, he's not really paid to be a talking head like O'Reilly, Kelly, Chris Wallace, Matt Lauer, etc.

Perhaps, it was mostly just an off the cuff thought anyways. Though Megyn was paid a lot as well and I have to imagine Sheps contract he signed in 2013 has to be up soon. With the MAGA's targeting him and the money flowing from the NBC's to court conservative voices, I wouldn't be wholly shocked is all I'm saying. Though I know he has also said glowing things about Murdoch committing more to what he values at the network. So who knows.

I don't know if I'd put much stock in the theory that NBC is chasing conservatives from those two hires. They (along with everyone else) went after Fox's highest profile/rated anchor who on the right was considered a Trump nemesis and social studies warrior, and stuck her at the end of the Today show. And although I think she's pretty conservative, her show was never like Hannity or something, she'd go after GOPers.

Greta isn't really anything from what I can tell other than a Scientologist, and I feel she's always kinda covered missing white women, murders and so on more than day-to-day political talking point fights, she had an Ailes Clause and didn't like the way he was killed off so used it.

Of course, Shep liked Roger Ailes too.

The one rumor I was hearing, through the grapevine including on a forum with some Fox ties, was that they were going to try and push Papa Bear out to retirement. During the Ailes stuff they were quitely settling a bunch of his sexual harassment cases and told him to shut up defending Ailes lol. MSNBC needs to hop on that and do O'Reilly and O'Donnell. :lawd

I haven't been paying attention this morning.  Why is the AP being put on blast over the national guard story?  Doesn't the article read that it's a draft EO that's under consideration?  So how did they fuck up?

Chaffetz going back at Clinton emails.
 :idont

Is clear that they also want to bait people into another Hillary Clinton fight just to recover a escape goat. The thing is that is a predictable course of action that both Obama and Clinton understand and have acted accordingly (avoid direct confrontations). I legit think that Trump didn't understood that the reason why Hillary and Obama have acted so passive (and incredible diplomatic with him) post election is not because they wish him the best or really think the country is good hands.

A spate of Muslim travelers in the United States, both American citizens and green card holders, have claimed U.S. Customs and Border Protection revoked their Global Entry cards, several immigration lawyers said in interviews with Mic.

Global Entry is a program run by CBP, which provides expedited entry through customs checkpoints at U.S. airports to vetted travelers.

Other travelers said their Global Entry applications were denied — without explanation — after being told in person they were approved after screenings and interviews, according to the lawyers. Greg Siskind, attorney and board member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, has been leading the charge in investigating these cases and called for examples on Twitter in early February.

"So far, we have heard from eight to nine people who are all Muslim," he said. "We expect that number to grow.”

Quote
A Medical Theory for Donald Trump’s Bizarre Behavior
Many mental health professionals believe the president is ill. But what if the cause is an untreated STD?
Quote
Given the limited information available, neurosyphilis belongs in the differential diagnosis. We know Trump was potentially exposed to syphilis based on his own statements that he was sexually promiscuous in the 1980s, a period when syphilis cases were rapidly increasing in the U.S. “I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world,” he told Howard Stern in 1997, referring to his dating life the decade prior. “It is a dangerous world out there—it’s scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam era. It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave solider.”

If indeed Trump has neurosyphilis, he’d be in famous company. Al Capone had it. So did composers Frederick Delius and Franz Schubert. Many others were suspected of having it, including Hitler, Mussolini, and Ivan the Terrible. What might enable us to eliminate Trump from this group? Two simple blood tests, in combination, can determine whether a patient has syphilis now or had it in the past. If both tests are negative, then he doesn’t have neurosyphilis. If one or both tests are positive, further evaluation, probably including a spinal tap, would be in order.

The importance—both to Trump and the nation—of establishing or ruling out this diagnosis cannot be overstated, because this infection is treatable. Without treatment, however, the disease is progressive: It can make for a rather ugly end to one’s life. Whether Trump emerged unscathed from his “personal Vietnam” is now a question that he should explore with his personal physician.

Also I don't think I posted about it yet, but IIRC Julia Ioffe (who is familiar with Russia) was explaining that foreign policy wonks in Moscow, in expectation of the election next year and the generous Putin's campaign contributions, are all writing self-aggrandizing papers grasping at any straws to retrospectively pretend they helped shaping the pathway to a Trump election.  :lol

Some critics cast doubt on local tallies of hate crimes, preferring the annual figures released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, since they apply one standard definition of a hate crime to incidents that take place throughout the nation’s various police districts.

Or they cast doubt because reports of hate crimes aren't the same as actual processed hate crimes. There's a DB for keeping track of the reports vs how many turn out to be false.

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-impeachment-democrats-235184
Quote
They call it the ‘I’ word.

Just a month into Donald Trump’s presidency, Democratic Party leaders are trying to rein in the talk of impeachment that’s animating the grass roots, the product of a restive base demanding deeper and more aggressive investigations into Trump’s ties to Russia.

Democratic officials in Republican-dominated Washington view the entire subject as a trap, a premature discussion that could backfire in spectacular fashion by making the party appear too overzealous in its opposition to Trump. Worse, they fear, it could harden Republican support for the president by handing his party significant fundraising and political ammunition when the chances of success for an early impeachment push are remote, at best.
Quote
Still, most congressional Democrats insist on drawing a line that stops far short of using the loaded term. Responding to Waters' impeachment chatter this month, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said, "When and if he breaks the law, that is when something like that would come up. But that's not the subject of today."

They believe that even if they did have enough evidence to start impeachment proceedings — which they don’t, since a number of investigations are still in their early stages, and Democrats can’t just impeach a president because they don’t like him — they wouldn’t have anywhere near enough votes as long as Trump-sympathetic Republicans control the majority.

Neither party leadership nor the campaign committees have circulated talking points or suggested ways to respond to impeachment questions that are starting to appear. But they are already aware of the potential electoral blowback to the party.
Quote
Senate Democratic leadership is for now content with the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee taking the lead

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/19/us/politics/fec-elections-ann-ravel-campaign-finance.html
Quote
WASHINGTON — A Democrat on the Federal Election Commission is quitting her term early because of the gridlock that has gripped the panel, offering President Trump an unexpected chance to shape political spending rules.

The commissioner, Ann M. Ravel, said during an interview that she would send Mr. Trump her letter of resignation this week. She pointed to a series of deadlocked votes between the panel’s three Democrats and three Republicans that she said left her little hope the group would ever be able to rein in campaign finance abuses.

“The ability of the commission to perform its role has deteriorated significantly,” said Ms. Ravel, who has sparred bitterly with the Republican election commissioners during her three years on the panel. She added, “I think I can be more effective on the outside.”

Her departure will probably set off an intense political fight over how a new commissioner should be picked. By tradition, Senate Democrats would be allowed to select the replacement, but, by law, the choice belongs to the president, and Mr. Trump has shown little interest in Washington customs.
I see no downsides to Ms. Ravel's desired agenda.

That this was the threshold is hilarious. The sheer speed that 'top tier' conservatives have shut him out is pretty interesting. Even more funny after he said on Bill Maher on Friday that he wouldn't say he was a pure conservative.

I think a punished Milo is going to be a lot more interesting.
