I've gone through the whole convenience and comfort thing before. It definitely has that aspect, it's beneficial for me right now in some ways and for her as well. So yeah it's tricky.

There's a big IF hanging over my life right now. I may actually get a job 100% remote where i can stay wherever i want and that is hanging over my head.... i can easily stay by the beach and my god the amount of women that would be rolling through.... do i really need someone bitching at me all the time? do i have to live up to some other persons expectations? Or can i continuously just live like a 20something year old bachelor for the rest of my life?

Is marriage for fools that need the convenience? these are questions and doubts i am having. I don't see a single male that is married say "man my life is wonderful" $:-\$

I'm already jaded about online dating. Nothing too original I guess. Makes you hyper aware that you're not unique and neither are any profile you're reading (grinding through thousands of samey bios has been a non ending existential crisis). Like everyone I thought it would ease the first steps but it's just a giant market and a cut throat one. My photos are pretty shit so maybe it's on me but on the other hand it seems incredibly phoney to make more tailored to that purpose. I'll probably never fuck that occasional colleague I fancy but at least I can barrage her with terrible jokes, it's more enjoyable than hundreds of wipes.

I guess I just need to work at getting my life straight, do charity work (it's on the way), pick up a sport and find a hip bar nearby (though honestly I sort of dread becoming a drunk pillar creepily gazing at gals). I'll probably keep the OkCupid profile up for a couple of weeks just in case one of my messages connect.

Obviously I can't speak for my wife's feelings. Of course, I'd expect her to say yes, but that's really not up to me to say. And I'm sure there's plenty of people that feel they have a great relationship while their partner doesn't feel the same way. That being said, you do sorta get the "spidey sense" for these people that are one sided.

Yeah, I guess that it comes down to personality. I'd rather have nothing and work towards what I want than to settle with something that I was complacent with, even if that means I never get there. I'd rather try and fail and know I at least tried than to be caught in a "What if I had acted?" scenario.

Everyone is in different places and have different factors in their decisions. I'm just in the camp of better to have tried and failed camp.

Note: I wasn't always like this. I was in that complacent space and really tried to hold on to it. But now I'm definitely on the other side. The loneliness/slog of being where you're just "comfortable" is too high a price for me.

Ok, the new OKC messaging system is crazy! I started messaging people for the first time in months and was having a couple of conversations back and forth that were going well. Then I went out for the day yesterday and went drinking after and got home and passed out. Figured I'd reply to those message chains this morning. I go on to the site and the message chains are gone, which apparently means the person got so upset I didn't respond back within X amount of hours that they unmatched me.

I guess that probably happened with some regularity in the past, but because the message chains wouldn't vanish, I'd never be aware of it. Feels like now there's more pressure to constantly reply every couple hours or the other person will walk. Kinda sucks when you have a life. I don't like to do dating stuff on my phone when I'm out doing active things with social pals. I find dating kinda a private thing. Heh.
