Tweet manipulate you guys, it’s not like they hid who she works for and nothing she said is wrong.
"a modern war of prohibition" is "causing 'cannabis retail deserts' to proliferate"

Riotous, our issue isn't the "deception," it's the utter drivel that was published.

Like as a long-term resident of an actual food desert I'm just baffled at "[cannabis retail deserts] are also a cousin of so-called food deserts, where affordable or quality fresh food can be hard to find because grocery stores offering such fare aren’t convenient. Without healthy options, residents often turn to fast food and convenience stores, consuming a steady diet of processed foods — and potentially suffering health consequences." the mockery is because it's an entirely narrowly targeted "upper class white people" type complaint framing the situation to not only sell to weak liberals but also promote her own company

the entire country, including California, exists as a legal cannabis retail desert under a longstanding unended actual war of prohibition, it's merely on an cross-cutting whim of the feds that "legal" at one level cannabis retail exists as it does... Raich is absolutely still law of the land despite the wishes of Justice Thomas (teehee)

and doubly so, California does not legally sell cannabis in anyway that I would recognize as "legal retail" considering it operates like a fucking control state in liquor retail not even the more enlightened control state in wholesale variety and while recreational usage has been decriminalized like many places since the 1970s, a medical marijuana regime even a "wink-wink" kind isn't legitimate legal retail and in this case California allows municipalities to control issuance of retail licenses, something that can only end in "cannabis deserts" due to the political costs involved (and doing it at the state level is not guaranteed to solve the "deserts" issue considering population distribution)

her smartest paragraph is this one, but is almost a perfect example of why we mock it:
Quote
The irony is that bans on legal cannabis end up propping up the illicit market. Without a legal option, users have little choice but to turn to the most convenient local means available, the illegal market, where businesses don’t comply with the quality control standards of the regulated market. And of course, illegal sales mean losses in tax revenue for the state.

but she proceeds to miss the forest for the trees to outline how her solution is not to deregulate and legalize marijuana, it is to tweak the regulatory regime in a way that works for her company which specializes in delivery, with retail as a secondary feature:
Quote
Communities that aren’t yet ready to license retail stores should welcome delivery businesses as a discreet and safe solution.

It's also illegal at the state level and the local level. 80% of municipalities will not issue licenses for retail. No one will issue individual seller licenses (ala guns) that I'm aware of.

Legalize it, don't cartelize it.

One is necessary to live, one isn't outside people with chronic pain disorders.

She doesn’t equate them.  Stop being triggered by analogies.  The analogous portion is they cause people to make harmful decisions.

She says that food deserts cause people to potentially harm themselves, whereas marijuana deserts cause people to break the law and purchase goods that don't go through official quality control, both of which are also only potentially harmful but of course that bit is left out.

https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2019/05/31/swedish-startup-to-bring-pogo-sticks-to-s-f-as-e-scooter-alternative/
Quote
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — San Franciscans may soon be able to bounce their way around town, if a Swedish-based mobility company has its way.

Earlier this month, start-up company Cangoroo announced plans to deploy hundreds of pogo sticks in select cities to directly compete with electric scooters as a transportation option.

Cangoroo officials said they plan to first launch their pogo sticks in the Swedish cities of Malmo and Stockholm sometime this summer.

After that, they would deploy the sticks in both London and San Francisco.

On Friday, Cangoroo CEO and co-founder Adam Mikkelsen said his company chose San Francisco as one of its launch cities because of its reputation as place of innovation.

He added that Cangoroo could start deploying anywhere between 100 and 200 pogo sticks in San Francisco as early as late summer or possibly in the fall.

I'm not sure what the argument is here ? I've not followed this so please correct or fill me in but having good tools or a decent material environment doesn't invalidate other demands part of the workforce might have (with regards to wages, communication from managers to subordinates, leave days, etc...).

Walking out for 1h -another bit that captured the attention of the public- isn't epic or legendary by any means but it's still more than what happens in some places.

Edit : Especially considering some of those working stations are probably used by freelances, so it makes even less sense.

Googling it seems to indicate that they've been negotiating for over a year, staging a walk out as a show of force to try to force the hand of the direction isn't incoherent or anything. Is primarily about wages, severance packages and the status of freelance workers.

"They have state of the art robot arms, why do auto workers complain about ?"

Thanks, yeah my brain farted a bit about what the "comments" were referring to. There's a tendency (on this board especially) to sometimes just riff on "First World Problems :trumps " and legitimate issues being a bit flattened in the process.
