I hope it isn't sacrilegious to say this here and maybe it's just me, but I think Best of the Worst is getting kind of old, or rather, tired. There simply isn't enough substance to make these episodes that long. We haven't quite reached the breaking point, but there are warning signs, like having celebrity guest stars.

I dont think Snyder tried to do "Superheroes are monster that will kill us if they were real", he is just an abysmal writer that thinks "This looks cool! Never mind it doesnt work here or in this propierty". I feel Warner Studios just doesnt get how actual dark superhero stories work in general, and I suppose Marvel Studios just doesnt even bother.

I think Ennis, even if is clear he hates superheroes, knows why they work and is able to create stories about how much he hates superheroes.

I’m pretty sure he has not made secret his disdain for superheroes. He is like Warren Ellis in being okay with writing Cape stuff as long it pays well or gives them free hand.

I'm not super familiar with Millar but the few I read was insufferable, especially Wanted and I found it a lot more grating and morally repugnant than anything I read by Ennis though they superficially come from the same sort of school (Both started in 2000 AD / Dredd, right ?). Ennis never struck me as a misanthrope or viewing his readers with contempt. There always was some genuine affection for the freaks and monsters of his stories and I always felt the edginess always had some purpose (even for Crossed). Also plenty of good fun to be had with him. But I didn't read anything by him in a long time and already by the time he was doing the Punisher Marvel Knights run I felt Ennis was maybe a victim of his own success and the tone was getting a bit samey.
