I think we're more in agreement than disagreement. I'm super in support of trans rights and the many issues involved therein. But sporting competition is a very complicated thing, especially where these two issues intersect. Women's sports are separated for a reason, and the reason is that in a level playing field, women can't physically compete. If they could, women's sports wouldn't exist.

As such, I'm generally inclined to support the amazing athletic women among us who are capable to doing remarkable things, and I appreciate the idea of protecting them against the others who can physically dominate them due to genetic advantages.

Trans women pose an additional challenge due to hormone therapy and other circumstances. Those make for an exceptionally challenging environment for creating a fair - but separate - playing field for women athletes.

Do you spend the majority of your free time on the internet? When you start to do less of that you will naturally find that with less time to spend online, you spend it more on the things that you really want to care about - chatting with actual friends online you've made, reading news updates and watching trailers only for things that you are looking forward to, etc. It becomes easy to distance yourself from the bubbles that form around the online space with people just shouting over each other, and you'll find that all the drama and stuff that has nothing to do with you personally don't bother you as much anymore.

Find activities and communities beyond the internet, get active and do stuff that make you feel happier and more fulfilled. In turn with less time to "waste" online, you will treasure the parts of your hobbies you truly care about, and appreciate those things more.

I am pretty worried about how they are going to handle the Dem primaries. To be honest, the General Election was pretty toxic as well at the old place, but a lot of the first major blows was how the old place had this "White Bernie Bro" narrative for anyone not on board Hilary Clinton. Hope we can learn from that somehow. Kirblar says he'll move to Canada if Bernie Sanders wins. Some of the most powerful people on this board would rather Trump than Bernie -- or at least it comes across that way. When I go to a fast food restaurant and there's no line, I won't just charge the cashier like a bull with my order. I wait. I have once waited a full minute and a half with the cashier just looking around or cleaning their station. They weren't distracted or on their phone or anything, it was just as if they didn't know how to initiate the Interaction! I politely wait for the "how can I help you today?" Why? Because it's a courtesy to you and me. You, because I'm not being rude and treating you like a microphone and me because it let's me know that you. Are. READY.

But that was another time.

So onto today's example, I'm doing this whole phone call thing and then when it gets to the end, I say "Alright well thank you for your help." They replied, "You're welcome" and then we hung around on the phone for a dead 45 seconds of silence before they asked, "....would you like a case number?"

I relented and said yes, then I did the formalities for them, "Alright thanks again for your help and I hope you have a nice day." THERE. NOW WE CAN END THE PHONE CALL.

THESE FORMALITIES KEEP THE THREADS OF SOCIETY FROM FALLING APART PEOPLE.
