I think this is a terrible poll question to draw any substantive conclusions from, and I would suggest you'd need a series of questions to properly grasp the after effects.

That being said, there's a lot of pro-consumption mentality in the gaming community, so I'm not shocked by the poll results being where they are. In general, people tend to stand up for ideas and issues, but when it comes to actually impacting their bottom line (not consuming a product they want to consume), they tend to cave. The best example of this is probably the MW2 Boycott.

The fact that the Washington Post made clear that the site was “once banned from google” killed the narrative of being some sort of dark net site that is, for some reason, on the open.

There ARE violently rhetorical dictator types but it's possible that gender roles reduce their avenues for success at least historically.

It doesn't require physical attractiveness at all - and there's an element that can be lost in the presentation or broadcast as a slew of Scott Eastwoods or Sam Worthingtons demonstrate - these examples are extremely handsome and in real life probably ferociously charismatic relative to a room full of randos.

I think my definition of it is a kind of aura of elements that a person emits in words and appearance that has a kind of brightness or volume and that it can be natural or deliberately projected -and amplified through content or performance. But it's also contextual - it can be turned off, or overshadowed by more charismatic company.

There's a video of a Trump legal deposition on one of his many bankruptcies or frauds where he ends up in a corner where he can't perform his act or tell the kinds of lies he always does and is forced into a legal strategy where he has to (still lying but sedated by the circumstances) simply plead ignorance to item after item. He looks beaten and pathetic and shitty because he's been cowed by, in this case the force of law, with no way out - but it shows that his charisma isn't permanent. It's built on the absurdity of his bullshit.

That's McConnell and the senate and some of the house. They've painted themselves into a corner by trying to ride it out - but this is a person who if he were a private citizen - they would NEVER admit him into their club. He's the height of gauche and ignorance but he's all they've got. But they'd not only admit he was charismatic - they'd likely define it the same way a liberal would.

Charisma is, as D&D suggests - a thing that can be used for good or evil - but it is not independent OF good or evil. Trump's charisma is defined and caused by the evil and stupidity that he enacts.

If Trump tried to focus his natural charisma on doing good, on being moral, on being charitable and kind and curious - I think he would fail very hard - but I also think that it would make him smaller and less charismatic - his behaviors in many ways can't even be applied to good at a fundamental level.

A suburban man who is a police captain and a leader at a local religious institution is caught for murdering multiple people in their neighborhood. Should I never live in this neighborhood again? Because the reality is that there isn't any unity, and companies will continue to get away with whatever as long as they make games people want to buy. There may well be progressive people on that site, but they're congregated around the work of two assholes. There may even be some good people still working there, as there certainly were in the past. I used to do events benefiting Child's Play (the Penny Arcade charity), and the women who ran that organization at the time (I think their names were Jamie and Kristin?) were just the nicest and most helpful human beings anyone could ever ask for. They even retweeted our events on the official account when we were literally just a pair of high school kids running a livestream out of my basement. The difference between them and their shitty bosses was enough to give you whiplash.

I actually supported Destructoid for a long time for a similar reason – i.e., because there were many people who worked there (like the excellent reviewer Chris Carter) that seemed like genuinely good guys. But I unfollowed them and deleted my account to start off my 2019. I can't support them anymore, because even browsing the site with an Adblocker felt like tacitly supporting that scumbag owner Niero the more and more I thought about it. And I can't support the Penny Arcade forum because, in my mind, doing so supports those scumbags James & Mike. [Huh; what an odd coincidence that those are the same names as the Cinemassace guys...]

I agree with what was suggested previously in this thread; Every THQ Nordic thread made about them or one of their games on this site, regardless if it's simple news or a full-on OT of a game, should have them being pro-child porn edited into the title of the thread and a disclaimer put into the OP. We should not allow this company or its products to continue to be discussed and promoted without their stance being made clear every single time. It needs to be put right in the face of people, including the ones here who want to ignore it. It's actually a tough situation, from the sidelines at least. Because when someone is accused of something, I generally want to see the evidence before I decide they did it. But with cp accusations, I don't want to see the evidence, so how can I know if 8chan is really what RE says it is?

In the case of Amir0x, investigators looked at his computer and said, "Yep, he has cp." And I can trust those investigators, so I can join in on the "Yeah, he needs to go to jail" sentiment.

But with this 8chan business, I don't trust anyone from 8chan to admit if they host cp, and I don't trust RE to accurately state how things are over there. So it's best to just shrug about the situation and not chime in.
