I think I posted this once before, but back when I was still in college I had the dream of teaching Enlgish in Japan ("wow you fucking weeb". Yeah I know. I am). A friend was kind enough to invite me to his family's Thanksgiving and I accepted. I was talking to his grandma while the Detroit Lions were getting smoked on live tv (a favorite past time of mine, as I dislike that team out of fun to poke at my buddies).
I brought up that I was hoping to go to Japan to teach English after school and out of the blue she goes "well you have to be careful. Those Japanese are sneaky" (I think she also mentioned that some president said that back in WW2 I guess). I was kinda taken aback and merely smiled and said something like, "ah well times change, but I'm a pretty careful person so I think it will be alright."
Lady was like 80 I would have to guess. Never knew there was some kind of stereotype about Japanese people being sneaky.

Oh and needless to say, all 3 Japanese teaching companies I applied to ended up denying me. Probably cause of my citizenship. Fools. I spent the vast majority of my life in North America. English is more of my first language than my actual mother tongue. Oh well. Your loss.
I'm still bitter
