Yea, but none of his own (Garrett's) teammates said he was saying that the night after it happened. If you have an outburst like that, ruin the team's season, you're going to be in the lockerroom telling everyone that will listen that you got called the N word and that's why you lost your shit. Why would you keep that quiet?

I mean, you decided right from the jump that you couldn't believe it was possible and there are probably lots of other people like you. Put that together with the NFL's generally conservative stance on racial issues, I don't think it's clear that Garrett would see a huge upside in bringing it up publicly.

I don't even think he leaked this himself. This came out only after his meeting with NFL officials via Adam Schefter, so it's probably league sources.

Not saying it happened the way he says it did, but I wouldn't rule it out either.

I'm just playing the odds here.

It seems more likely that a young man who deeply embarrassed himself and became a national pariah (unfairly) for a few days would then create a scenario that made his actions seem more justified. That's just human nature.

On the other hand, if you believe Rudolph did this, then none of his teammates heard him say it (and they were all in earshot) or they all agreed to stay mum and protect their backup QB which they have limited affinity for. Or even possibly the NFL itself is covering it up because they would likely have access to audio of it since mics are all over on a prime-time televised game. Why would the NFL risk covering up a racial slur for a backup scrub QB? They will throw any player under the bus to protect their business.

I'm a Cleveland fan, so I want Myles to be right. But it just doesn't seem likely.
