Of course I agree with Hbomberman that he’s not responsible but he is still 100% responsible

Fifty people were murdered by his fans, remember. Fifty. Not just men or women but children too. Innocent people who were just attending a religious service. All because of a movement he is quite literally a ringleader of.

They were Tusken Raiders apparently.

THIS post is fucked up

https://www.resetera.com/threads/pewdiepie-attempts-to-distance-himself-from-christchurch-mosque-shooter-who-pledged-support-read-threadmarks.105466/post-18902392

Quote from: exotoro
i keep seeing this reddit post pop up in "defense" of pewdiepie

(Image removed from quote.)

like, its complete nonsense, right?

edit: should probably clarify; i want to either debunk this or at least have something to say in response to it because
1) finding the manifesto at all to even see if there's a source to this claim is hard
2) it is complete nonsense. the problem is it is an easy way to reframe the entire pewdiepie argument as something that the terrorist wants and thats bad
3) even if it was completely true, pewdiepie should still be held somewhat responsible as he never bothered to distance himself away from the alt-right

"We aren't allowed to talk about the manifesto here and law enforcement/sites are actively taking it down as fast as it resurfaces, therefore claims that he wanted to troll and confuse people are unsourced"

 :what :crazy :cmonson

I love this bit:

Quote
should probably clarify; i want to either debunk this or at least have something to say in response to it

The guy hasn't read the manifesto and so has no idea what he actually believes or what his motives were. Yet despite not knowing fucking anything about the shooter, his only impulse is to try and debunk it or at least have a response to counter any opposing argument. Trying to find out the truth, or at least have a better understanding of the shooter doesn't even come into it. lol

And this bit:

Quote
3) even if it was completely true, pewdiepie should still be held somewhat responsible as he never bothered to distance himself away from the alt-right

In other words, even if he isn't able to spin it so that it fits the narrative, he is still going to find a way to make pewdiepie responsible regardless. lol

Timothy McVeigh's targets were overwhelmingly white too. That's not the point I'm making towards you. (That post is a complete aside implying about the fact that "whiteness" is a political concept to maintain power, thus it can shift overtime to whatever is convenient for white people.)

The point is white terrorists tend to garner sympathy more easily than non-white ones, which you inadvertently demonstrated by naming white terrorists who got put on a Rolling Stone magazine cover.

"Whiteness is a political concept applied to people when its convenient for them to do so.  Oh, that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev terrorist dude that was given sympathy and put on the Rolling Stone cover?  White guy!"

"Just memes"
It was subsequently removed, and PDP made a donation to the team that did it to cover the costs of removal.

Because, covering the complete story wouldn't fit the narrative you're selling, amirite?
How does that change the fact that it happened because of him perpetuating the meme?

don't really know what to make of this thread anymore. time was on GAF, the militant crazies were more of a pressure group. it got bad at the end but that was more due to a protected caste that just ruined everything for everyone. it wasn't completely ubiquitous so this thread was here to provide a highlight reel.

with ree now this thread feels like "check out this CRAZY thing they said on stormfront", almost everything simply by virtue of being on ree is going to be some flavour of mental. even the banposts don't have any flavour any more since it's been long established that simply disagreeing with the set narrative is 100% banworthy, there's not even a rule set that needs to be justified.

the only real interest comes through recognising people who used to be decently above the line on GAF descending into a well of derangement. that and sonichu tier spergposts which are always a fun diversion.

Yeah.  This weekend has made me reconsider the point of laughing at ERA anymore.  Seeing a real life tragedy and something so disturbing used as a cheap prop for self-inflating preformative outrage has rustled my jimmies.

Instead of being upset at the shooter, the 50 dead, and the global philosophy that radicalized him I'm watching these ass sucks trying so desperately hard to make it about Pewdiepie.  It's like when a tornado wipes out a bunch of people and Billy Graham makes it about the gays.  Era and GAF is known for doing this but this time it feels different.  Maybe I'm older or just realizing they aren't going to change.  At some point gawking and laughing at a buffoon stops being fun.

I'm sure by Wednesday Idris Elba will do something unforgivable like say he doesn't know how to play "gay," and the fun will be back.

Yeah, I'll admit its making me more angry than it should at how quickly people on era co-opted a tragedy to relitigate minor unrelated gripes they already had (THQ and pewdiepie being the obvious examples) and how the mods are actively complicit in making that happen.

ERA needs an enemy they because they are realizing what other generations already figured--the problem of evil.  Previous generations may have blamed angry gods or fate.  What's interesting, most intelligent people know not to blame Islam with Muslim terrorism, but a specific set of radicalism.  Yet, ERA is doing the same thing bigots on the right are doing. Blaming an edgelord Youtuber for a massacre of 50 people. Definitely a jump the shark moment for the site and that's saying something!

I'm already over that phase, after being pretty disturbed early on when I've seen them cultishly gather around posters that were the most vocal about their anti-democratic and racist beliefs. Or by that one time they celebrated the death of that UK youtube guy, whose only "crime" I found was him saying sjw out loud some years ago. Only good thing is they can't cause any damage in the real world, as long as they stay in their basements crying about the toxic sexism of Rose the Hedgehog all day.
As the cleaning of the bubble continues, only extremely rotten people will remain there. Remember when you could use GAF for gaming news and discussion?

Between this, justie smoolit and THQ, it's clear that Reee has jumped the shark and its days are numbered. The only question is whether it's a slow grind into obscurity or if there is an explosive catalyst that sets the whole thing burning to the ground in a matter of days.

Either way, is The Bore ready to become "the internet's premier video gaming forum destination. A savory assortment of enthusiasts, journalists, and developers"?

RE is probably lucky no one knows about them, because I feel like PDP could pretty easily sue the shit out of Cerium and get the whole site shut down immediately.
ERA ain't that important lol.  Besides he wouldn't want to give them more attention. That would be worse for him.

UPDATE: I have spoken to EggBoi (Will) on the phone a short while ago and he is committed to sending a majority of the money to the victims of the Christchurch terrorist attack. I will keep you all updated with how everything pans out
"a majority of the money"

:ohhh is there a reason for not donating the entire thing?

Would 60s Era blame the Beatles for Charles Manson?

If Ree had existed in the 60s The Beatles would have been put on a banned list and John Lennon would have been their version of PDP

"Because ultimately, our humanity depends on everyone's humanity. I've learned very simple things doing the work that I do. It's just taught me very simple things. I've come to understand and to believe that each of us is more than the worst thing we've ever done. I believe that for every person on the planet. I think if somebody tells a lie, they're not just a liar. I think if somebody takes something that doesn't belong to them, they're not just a thief. I think even if you kill someone, you're not just a killer."
