when was the last time you played a game of chess/shogi/mahjong that was innovative, the point of those games arent to be innovative (although some are with their battle systems, gear systems and magic systems) but to use the tools you have, or know when not to use finite resources to out-strategize the enemy. Strategizing is a timeless endeavour, it's so fundamental to many boardgames and table top games. Making these games play like kingdom heart is fucking cancer.
That a lot of popular turn based games' difficulty curve is so broken that you can 'attack,'attack','attack' is another story though.
