No please, go ahead filler, Rufus and the rest of you Commie bastards, please tell me how this socialist Utopia of yours decides who gets to live where? What would you do if you get assigned to live in a crime filled shithole?
How is public housing assigned right now in Australia?
By some public servant.
With a pair of dice, presumably.

My US Govt house cost a ton of fucking money to build, but when you check the receipts its because I bought a lot of $500 hammers, which I didn't actually buy, I converted to a slush fund to go fuck up a neighbouring housing development by flooding it with drugs and arming the local gangs with guns because I figured my house would look better if the neighbours live in a fucking violent drug addicted slum.

My Glorious CCCP Govt house looks amazing from the front, and is clearly just as good and powerful as all the other houses out there. But you go round the back and its just a big fucking photograph of a house glued onto a cardboard fascia nailed onto a rickety corrugated iron roofed shanty, with a bucket for a toilet.

Also imagine not knowing the difference between Yes | Present| No

God damn the obama call out culture thread is rich.  Surprisingly a reasoned response from I'd say 1/3 of posters including mods.

But the rest, man, they immediately interpret call out culture as cancel culture and rev up with righteous anger to discredit and humiliate.  They ask for examples, they don't even have one and they assume the worst and are triggered to own it.  This is precisely what Obama is talking about.

White supremacy forces black people to live in segregated communities that don't get the funding white communities get, meaning schools, roads, housing programs, and police are all underfunded, it's basically the worst nightmare version of communism carved out only for people of color because of racism.

RE pretending cancel culture is an alt right thing is full blown gaslighting. All forms of the right revel in hypocrisy and therefore are immune to cancel culture and the only time they engage in it is to troll lefties, who do all the cancelling on their own without any need of a push from righties. Cancel culture is almost entirely woke slacktivists in every example you can come up with.

Young Turks must be thinking about changing their name these days.
This made me finally look up the origin of the name, and it appears there's been grounds for concellation for a long time:
Quote
According to Cenk Uygur, the name of the show was chosen because it is a popular colloquialism.[74] According to the American Heritage Dictionary, one definition of a Young Turk is "a young progressive or insurgent member of an institution, movement, or political party."[75][76] The name was earlier used by a rebellious group of Congressmen within the Republican Party, of which Gerald Ford was a prominent member, who had become disenchanted with the course of the Party during the early 1960s as well as other political groups around the world. However, the Young Turks show has been criticized for the name, as the original Young Turks political movement committed the Armenian Genocide,[74] and that in 1991 Cenk Uygur wrote an article in The Daily Pennsylvanian in which he promoted Armenian Genocide denial.[77] In 2016, he rescinded these statements, arguing: "My mistake at the time was confusing myself for a scholar of history, which I most certainly am not. I don’t want to make the same mistake again, so I am going to refrain from commenting on the topic of the Armenian Genocide, which I do not know nearly enough about."[78]

Maybe I'm just not caught up (I'm not), but how is it different from any prior form of social ostracism? I've alway treated it as one of those social media rebranding drum beats of age-old human behaviour and quitely rolled my eyes at it.

I mean it was only a matter of time before the granularity of wokeness caught up to the left willingness to protest their own.

It is same shit as "cancel culture" there isn't really such a thing. Cus 99% time nothing gets done.

If I could lock people up for things that aren't illegal and I don't like, I wouldn't harass people so much (probably)

I was. Your phrasing threw me off I guess. Wednesdays! If you want to divide everything in to right vs left, and you fight within your own circle, it's hard for anyone to take you seriously. It makes the left look broken.

And both the protesters and the target represent demographics that sit on the left side of the spectrum. Classically, at least. I don't get how you can deny that.

That's not to say that the activists are wrong. But, my point stands. It's infighting.

I thought you were implying they were eating their own, no? But I don't see that really being the case in that example of the Toronto protest you mentioned.

Eh.  :doge

No. Most people took a wait and see approach with Etika. The threads about his homophobia here were not unanimous. Many spoke to his mental illness, it was a well known issue. That was only here. In general he wasn't even close to being cancelled. His reddit was always poppin', his streams got a ton of views, he wasn't perma banned on Twitch. His community was always supportive and wanting him to get help. He wasn't cancelled.

My ideal for the free marketplace of ideas is that when someone is on a soapbox, you have the right to walk away.

Cancel culture is not walking away; it's throwing tomatoes.

hey, if you're ever attacked by a jiangshi, you'll know not to piss about with holy water and stakes and shit, and skip straight to finding a taoist monk or buddhist priest.

I basically saved your life :snob

it does really seem like infighting when you find out that Buck Angel is one of those TERFS who should be cancelled...
