My ideal for the free marketplace of ideas is that when someone is on a soapbox, you have the right to walk away.

Cancel culture is not walking away; it's throwing tomatoes.

The free marketplace sold those tomatoes.

Curious.

Like if I tweet or hashtag about how you didn't do something right, or use the wrong verb, then I can sit back and feel pretty good about myself. 'Cuz man, did you see how woke I was? I called you out!

Imagine a world where everyone is able to buy a new PS5. With 20 games.  Every.  single.  month.  That's 60 games in 3 months.  You can mix and match: sometimes you want some new Dota clothes for your character.  Sometimes you want to purchase the new gay Overwatch character a new, maroon, Chesterfield velvet coat.  Pretty nice, right?  Now ask yourself, 'What do we have to do to get Andrew Yang into office?'

The defense rests.

now imagine 7 out of those 10 people said something bad on Twitter 10 years ago completely unrelated to the crisis and as a result will be denied funding, denied a job, denied a platform and a voice

I mean, 99 percent of people hate doing that and they do it under duress for scraps while the rich keep getting richer and exploiting everyone under the sun.

How can anyone defend capitalism when schools are useless degree mills, trades will all be automated soon enough and you are always at 100 percent downside for losing a job and having to be humiliated by the "safety" nets.

I am not advocating for everyone, with or without a job to live a life of luxury by doing nothing (would be nice tho!) but you shouldnt need labor to not jeopardize your life.

How can anyone defend capitalism? Its the most pernicious system ever foisted upon mankind. Its the source of all ills and all evils and its staunchest architects and defenders are disgusting peope who would let you die and suffer if that means they can pass another tax break or get some kickback money.

They say capitalism and democracy are the lesser forms of evil but thats the worst euphemism out there.

How else can you describe a noxious system where totally artificial made up concepts (i.e money) get to decide the fate of everyone and the course of their lives?

Its pathetic to say the least that as the world is heading towards an irreversible climate catastrophy, things are getting even worse.

And replace it with...?

Come on, guys. I get what you're aiming for and I'm not trying to knock your ideas of a perfect society but none of you seem to have plans beyond this that are actually feasible in a world with free will, because free will means you're free to choose, so people can choose to not help you out.
Then we need a benevolent dictator who knows better. If people want to elect Trump, get people off healthcare, persecute others, etc then they should be stripped of all voting rights.

Voting should be the reserve of those who want the best for humanity and the planet.

Replace dictator with an advanced AI if you will. If peoples views clash with rationality and whats best for mankind and human race, they shouldnt have a right to vote. Look at where it brought us. You have fucking Trump as the president and people threatening a civil war if he is impeached. These people are retarded.

We need to create an AI that creates randomly generated AI that battle against each other for supremacy, after which another generation and battle round is had, ad nauseam until the resulting AI is so far removed from it's human creators that it decides the best course of action is just to post joker memes and hock crypto all day

Eh, I like the Angel Dust character, he has some few genuinely good gags. The constant sexual innuendo is kinda of meh, though.

The two lesbian main characters appeal to my inner yuri fan, but they don’t seem to do much at all.

Wow, first Brainchild, a GameXplain employee, makes inflammatory generalizations about the community.

Now, GameXplain posts a video where Andre addresses Jimmy Fallon cordially and says he would love to come on his show, the same show where Jimmy Fallon directly appointed Trump president by rubbing his hair.

I don't believe in the "AI skynet will kill us all!" scaremongering.

I think it would end with a whimper like the Command and Conquer AI's of old.
When it sees no more viable options it just stops to function and you can steamroll it.

If you think it's a purity test to not be racist or sexist or homophobic, so be it, it needs to be that way. These are base-level expectations of good people.

Yes, you assigning subjective arbitrary values as to what 'baseline good' represents and then demonising anyone who does not meet your criteria is indeed a purity test.

As point of note; it is also generally considered as a base-level expectation of 'good people' that ruining someone wholly innocent of any wrong doing because it expedites punishing the guilty is not an acceptable trade off. And yet...

A housing crash is only a problem for those who have over extended. Since I'm rich af compared to all the Millennials and have managed my debt well, like a good little gen X/capitalist pig, I'll be fine if it crashes.

That being said,  people have been saying it's going to crash for 20 years. I'll believe it when I see it.

Note that won’t help: what Blizzard did was, in my opinion, morally wrong, cowardly, unbecoming, a bad business decision, and embarrassing. It just isn’t a free speech issue.

What did Hannibal actually do? Kick people out to make air BNBs or turned apartments into air bnbs when leases were up?
he converted his apartments into airbnbs after the leases were up AND gave the tenants two months rent-free so they have the time/money to find somewhere new. therefore he is evil?

also he is on twitter leaning into the stupid for a joke by posting landlord help guides and asking people to donate to a landlord organization. the no-humor crowd does not find this too funny.

Anyone think it’s weird that an established comedian is a landlord on the side? If he wanted to get into real estate, you’d think he’d have someone who handles that stuff for him.

I mean i'm sure he's got savings but it's not like he'd be so wealthy that there's people who do that sort of stuff for him. The "apartment complex" he owns is only 3 units, he's not exactly a titan. I remember him saying in a podcast or an interview that he would rent out his apartment on AirBnB while he was on tour (for weeks, months), so buying a property and doing the same thing times 3 wouldn't be that much of a learning curve.

Your tweet says that Farmer's insurance pulled ads. Nothing about Kotaku being dead on a Friday.

I mean, I'm all for Kotaku dying (BorkGreatestHits.jpg) but let's not exaggerate. Kotaku still pulls in clicks, for better or worse.

A lot of these entertainers do side stuff like being a landlord or house flipping for the rich. It is hard to lose money on land/homes if you don't act stupid.

joking but still losing a 7 figure ad deal because your employees are acting like idiots is going to lead to a purge sooner
