What did Hannibal actually do? Kick people out to make air BNBs or turned apartments into air bnbs when leases were up?

Anyone think it’s weird that an established comedian is a landlord on the side? If he wanted to get into real estate, you’d think he’d have someone who handles that stuff for him.

He is not exactly dirty rich. The RE thread mentioned he was not even sure if was going able to be a comedian for all his life.

What irony.
The man who brought down Bill Cosby was he himself rotten to the core (for owning property).  ::)

yeah, but most of era seem to think there are two levels of richness;
  • Borderline poverty that they're in, because they can't afford HBOMax AND Disney+, they can only get Ubereats 4 nights a week, only watch MCU new reelases 4 or 5 times at the cinema the day it comes out, can't afford a PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One AND Xbox One X on top of their Switch and Switch Mini, and don't have a house big enough to house all their animu love pillows and vidya tchotchkes in their own dedicated incel gallery
  • Filthy 1% boomers lighting cigars with the amazonian rainforest they bought from the n-word store

Ok, can someone give me a sum up on the Kotaku thing?
All I know is that Reset's lord and savior decided to bite the hand that feeds him and then was surprised that it didn't go well?

can someone give me the summary as I don't wanna read umpteen pages from people that don't know how the world works.

Yuka in advance for thanks.

From what I gathered they wrote an article complaining about their own shitty autoplay ads and how to contact management to complain
The boss didn't like that so he removed it. And now they're acting like they are the French resistance in WW2.

Some other site in that network also got into a pinch. A sports site which told their writers to cut the woke bullcrap and write about sports instead.
However, an employer can no longer ask his staff to do the thing they are hired to do. Because reasons.

The clickbait journo's sort of got hit by a bus called reality.

These cretins don't understand that editorial oversight isn't uncommon.
If you want a free reign you have to set up your own company and outlet. Until then the owners can decide what sort of content they want.

Sure, it's better if they listen to the staff (more motivated, better workplace) but looking at their behavior on ResetEra there's no use in arguing with those people.

I don’t want to sound like Nintex but: This rich people are their fucking bosses, their bosses were scummy rich people since their Gawker days and most of their new bosses will most probably be rich people.

The entire point isn’t that sports are inherently political, it’s that rich assholes only have a problem with sports becoming a political cudgel when it’s used against them or things they like. Notice none of those trust fund babies or their mongoloids sycophants in their MAGA hats have any problem teeing off on the NBA over the China stuff.

Isn’t mongoloids problematic slang?  :doge

This is bullshit. Gawker Media went under because of Hulk Hogan, and then a private equity firm came in to run its pieces right into the ground. The new owners are the problem. They don't respect what makes its staff special.

15) Gawker Media

A tax shelter for a Hungarian businessman, run as a network of second-tier gossip blogs with no gossip and very little actual blogging. Stagnant traffic but still beating all competitors in unearned self-regard and smugness. Best-case scenario is everything except Lifehacker gets sold off. More likely: Kinja actually works and the sites become a kind of liberal-arts Reddit, only a quarter as big and an eighth as interesting. Everyone says io9 is good but we're not sure anyone reads it.

Odds: Til our next paycheck.

“Today, a number of our colleagues at Deadspin resigned from their positions,” the statement read. “From the outset, [G/O Media CEO] Jim Spanfeller has worked to undermine a successful site by curtailing its most well-read coverage because it makes him personally uncomfortable. This is not what journalism looks like and it is not what editorial independence looks like.

“‘Stick to sports’ is and always has been a thinly veiled euphemism for ‘don’t speak truth to power.’ In addition to being bad business, Spanfeller’s actions are morally reprehensible. The GMG Union stands with our current and former Deadspin colleagues and condemns Jim Spanfeller in the strongest possible terms.”

"stick to sports" is bad? wasn't deadspin's popularity built on being a sports website?

i mean, wikipedia says "Deadspin is a sports news and blog website". but "stick to sports" is the new "gate"?

edit: here is some more https://theconcourse.deadspin.com/the-adults-in-the-room-1837487584 - seems like sticking to sports is really hard for sports journalists. "stop vilifying journalists" etc

Haha, I liked Deadspin because they would "stick to sports" but report on them in a clearly liberal way.  I hated everything else from Gawker media.

I even took a principled stand against them when they outed Shep Smith as gay in the most vag-fart way possible.  Something like "Shep Smith was seen leaving Radicchio Grill with "long time friend" David and finding out his car had been booted," and made it a front page news story.

the whole reason kotaku is going on strike is because EA has come back to steam and one of their VPs has basically called out epic and said storefront fragmentation/exclusivity is bad. nathan grayson just doesnt want to have to write that article after all of his shilling to the contrary about how its so good for companies.

also, remember when kotaku posted an article about CP last month?
With pictures?
And complained that the porn wasn't good enough, literally "i can't fap to this"?
remember how they "apologized" saying "whoops, don't know how this slipped past the editors, we'll do better next time"?

LOL
