No offense to manga readers but manga is an entirely different weeb power level so that's my explanation for having not even heard of junji ito until I googled curly's avatar

Uzumaki is one of his least scary stories for me, get done so I can recommend more

Uzumaki starts awesome but it petered out by the end for me. I liked Gyo a lot more. Wanted to read the Tomie stuff but I was confused as to where to start. Fragments of Horror was pretty awesome. Frankenstein was pretty fun, too.

I suggest Fragments of Horror if you want more since it’s short stories and you’ll get variety.

It is more disturbing than scary. I really liked it mostly because I enjoy surrealist stories like this. The adult swim anime seems to have the right idea of going for the disturbing angle rather than just grotesque imagery.

yeah it gets too over the top eventually, I think that's why his short stories are best, they don't suffer from excessive buildup

most of his longer works suffer honestly, I didn't like Tomie, and I hate his stupid series with that prankster kid who puts nails in his teeth

The end part of Uzumaki is great. The filler inbetween should be left out in the anime. These short stories with the babies or the jack in the box don't really make sense in the overall series.
