Microsoft stores apparently
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/26/microsoft-to-close-retail-stores.html

Google scrapping their insane (rumored) Google Store barges + nationwide expansion and focusing on store.google.com instead seems oddly prescient now, even if I was raging against the decision at the time...

Also when the first MS stores came to Boston they went fucking BIG. I swear I was seeing people with MS bags every day for several weeks. Seemed successful enough to me, and I honestly hoped MS succeeded to demonstrate the value in the concept to Google. Oh well!

The MS store in the Huntington Square Mall was just people playing Xbox One on the couch in front of the big screen TV setup with maybe 1 or 2 people checking out the rest of the store. Contrast that to Apple which was always RIDICULOUSLY packed. Even the Sony store in Roosevelt Field usually had way more people.

I honestly can't imagine anything less cool than a Microsoft store.  :yeshrug

Microsoft came preinstalled on my computer, I didn't even have to go to a store to get it. 8)
