When brands jumped on lgbt rights it started to become more mainstream. I don't care if it's seen as shallow or even superficial. I consider it a win.

My uncle is actually praying his store gets burned down, and he probably will profit off of all of this, but, maybe unsurprisingly, him and his son are absolutely livid. Having your windows broken and your property stolen is extremely heart breaking, especially to people who take pride in their business. I won’t pretend like I understand the motivation of looting outside of causing anarchy, but it’s extremely disheartening to see an anti-establishment movement attack people who are not a part of the establishment.

All major chain stores in my city shut down about 4 hours ago although I don't think there's anything going on here, a very small peaceful protest downtown (like 50 people) earlier in the day, but I guess stores don't want to fuck around and get looted even though all those big box stores like Walmart and equivalents aren't in a city/walkable environment and are all off a highway and far apart. Our Walmart barricaded all the doors with what looks like stacks and stacks of pallets and bounced

I don't know. I kept my distance from the protest because I have to be really careful with COVID. But I did see them. But there were only 2 of them at the time. I had left before the started to trash shit.

This is how protests go in Montreal. No matter the cause, the anarchists come in and start to trash shit, then the cops, who will generally let a peaceful protest go on, have to shut it down.

Don't get me wrong, our cops are racist as shit too, but they won't start hurling pepper spray at people if they're just marching down the streets.
