Regarding the wife beating, generally GAF has the tendency to push the bounds of misogyny pretty far.  Rape Time was a pretty popular (ie, overdone) meme for quite some time before the mods put their foot down over it.  There's still a big amount of members there that only refer to women as bitches.  So as much as it sucks, I kind of understand why they would auto permaban someone for remotely suggesting wife beating, even if other people probably mentioned it in another thread.
