No, because we have a capacity to anticipate and consider the future in a way no other animal can as far as we know. I don't know man... I had a stupid fucking bird [seriously, he's an asshole] that would start squawking when we were on our way home. I'd know my mom was coming home within 5 minutes based on how the bird acted, before the dogs could hear the car or she'd even be in the subdivision. Coincidence over a now 15+ year time span? Who fucking knows? We really don't know what capacity animals have for sure. All species have their pros and cons. Better senses, faster reaction times, etc. etc. etc. We might be able to stand upright and talk (both of which aren't exclusive to us), but so what? Maybe dog farts are what are really powering the world, but us stupid humans haven't figured it out yet.

Regardless of if we have this capacity or not, we aren't using our abilities for the Earth's benefit, just our own. So really, the world would probably be better off without us.

And yes, jellyfish feel pain. The Dead Milkmen even wrote a song, Jellyfish Heaven, which "is a place where jellyfish go to get away from Mormons and drunk eskimos." I hear "it's a lot like L.A." Not sure if that's a good thing or not.

euh, ok. That bird does not anticipate or consider the future in a self reflective and self conscious way like humans do. It doesn't set goals or has dreams or anticipate a future state of themselves or of others through empathy. We can't know for sure for sure, but all evidence points to no and it's all we have. I'm saying this relates to how humans feel and experience pain and death and the pain and death of others, especially those they're related to. I think this is a pretty good basis for deciding who to save in a given situation. In no way does this justify exploitation or animal cruelty, on the contrary.

Nature/earth doesn't care wether species die or live, only we do and it's in our concern only, wether for survival or esthetic reasons. (which are both pretty good reasons as far as I'm concerned)

Afaik Jellyfish don't feel pain as they don't have a central nervous system.

Nah man, my point was that there isn't anything inherently racist about painting a face white or black. Blackface is racist in USA because of the history and culture in USA. There are no discriminatory or demeaning actions going on regarding the whole Sinterklaas holiday.
