I think NPD are going to seriously tighten down on their figures. I was talking to a guy who works there a while back, and he referred to people who post steal their research as "sociopathic".

I realise GAF are getting them legitimately right now, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if that changed.

One of the reasons Virtua Fighter 4 EVO is the best 3d fighter ever is BECAUSE of the single player mode. It's like Street Figher Alpha 3's World Tour mode on crack!

AI for world reknown VF players so you can get your skills up in a way you wouldn't be able to do if you just went with arcade mode! It's handy if you don't have anyone to play with, and that's often, because fuckers don't play VF around here! Never have!

And then the winning conditions such as: YOU LOSE THE MATCH IF YOU FALL ON THE GROUND. SAFE FALL TO AVOID LOSING MAJOR DAMAGE.

And then there's all the absolutely absurd costumes you can acquire and customize your characters with.

Kumite mode retooled. And it's just so awesome!

VF4EVO

It's awesome! VF4EVo set the bar for players stuck playing a single player fighter. If only VF5 had online mode!

The "Why no X title for Wii" topics, where X is a desirably multiplatform next-gen console game, are going to provide plenty of entertainment in the future, I think.

Judging from the Mercenaries thread, you get a nice combination of waggle haters/fearers (that's me), the usual legion of Nintendo apologists, attempted technical wankery the usual poor grasp of technical matters by the average console gaffer, and Drinky getting in easy potshots.

It's in farking California as of last night. I'm not hopeful on getting it until Saturday at the earliest.

GAF's RTS crew is gonna rape time me so bad when it does get in. My innate RTS affinity bonuses won't apply to this game, I fear. :(

I heard that the performance on the final code was a bit better than the demo release. I'm hopeful they can add some tweaks here and there to shape up performance a bit in high-unit situations. Do you know if the game shipped with a DirectX 10 version enabled, or if it's just DX9 until it gets patched in? There was never a clear answer from the GPG forums regarding that.

No idea.  I am still in DX9-land.

I have to wait until someone I know gets the game before I can skirmish.  At the moment I'm just fiddling around and learning some basic strategies.  The game's got some serious depth for an RTS.

Since you have the retail version, you might get some good tips out of the GameReplays boards/posts to figure some stuff out now that the game is released. It's got full downloable replay support.

That's how I always learned RTS games that have that feature.

I can't believe that Wii Mercenaries thread is now degraded into talking about power consumption. Even PC gamers don't care too much about power consumption, other than wishing it was lower so that everything would run cooler for faster overclocks. I can't see how it would matter on a closed platform unless the hardware shits itself due to heat (hi2u 360).
