I don't get the point of extreme fanservice shows like that. Why not just skip that stuff and go straight to the actual porn?

If regular fanservice isn't enough for you, then you're ready for Manyuu Hikenchou.

Man I'd just watch those extreme shaky cam hentai's at that point.

And pretty excited about Unicorn Episode 6.

I never really understood this line of thinking. For me it's simply a visual thing, not something meant to arousal. I don't I've ever been excited by fanservice, overwhemled sure but not excited. I think I just like well drawn fanservice like some of the episodes of Highschool of the Dead. This probably sounds pretty weird :(

Fanservice is ok for shows that intend to be all erotic right from the start. But throw that shit in serious shows like Fate/Zero and I won't fucking tolerate it. Thankfully, Fate/Zero has none which is why it's one of the best shows last year.

Context is key.

I thought it messed up what they did to her in the anime, granted it's more realistic than the manga where she's just fine.

This new season of anime has been a real bust so far. A few shows that are watchable, but nothing really that great [as compared to a whole pile of great shows last season].

Nah it's great, it's like the entire season 1 anime stuffed into one movie. I prefer the novels and anime of course, but the movie isnt bad for someone wanting to just run through S1 content quickly.

Is Steamboy worth the time?

As a whole, Steamboy is too long and the story's kinda scattershot. However, it's still a fun steampunk adventure and the animation is absolutely incredible. Steve Jablonsky's soundtrack is pretty good, too:

i'ts kind of a fucked up romance where this seemingly sociopath high-school girl torments this boy who thinks he's a pervert but he's really not that bad a person.  there's a bit of fan wank in it as the weird bookish kid with no friends is made to be somewhat exceptional and the most beautiful girl in his class falls in love with him because he's not like anyone else in their class.

the real reason to read is because this sociopath girl is damaged goods and it's somewhat entertaining to see how far she is able to push the boy.

the storytelling is quite good from a technical standpoint which helps it stand out a bit

Quote
The "corrupt pure-love story" revolves around Takao Kasuga, a literary-minded boy who loves the poems of Charles Baudelaire (the original author of the poetry collection Les Fleurs du mal or Flowers of Evil). One day after school, he discovers and steals the gym clothes of Nanako Saeki, the girl he has a crush on. However, he learns that Sawa Nakamura, a girl he loathes, happens to catch him in the act. Nakamura blackmails Kasuga into a "contract," or else she will reveal his secret.

Fake edit: Tow Ubukata's work on Mardock Scramble ain't half bad [lots of dark, weird scifi stuff] and Kazuchika Kise is a veteran animator, so I'm certainly not going to right this off without giving it a chance. Plus, you know, it's MORE GHOST IN THE SHELL, so yeah.

It's not that the design is necessarily that bad [although I don't agree that it looks GOOD], but let's talk comparisons here:

It's not even close, this is easily the worst/least impactful of all four designs.

The Tachikomas make up a lot of SAC. Both manga's also have a lot of zany humor as well. Something both anime adaptations lacked.

The character design here dosen't quite look as good as the manga one, but I don't think it's that far off. Manga Major is a bit more cute and young looking then SAC and man looking movie one.

I'm cautious because I don't exactly trust the staff. Did'nt care for Marddox Scramble, but on the other hand it did strike me as a modern anime that at least understands the gist of storytelling. Which is kind of a big accomplishment as far as I'm concerned.

Lack of Kanno sucks, but then again it's not like she's been that great recently. Then again someone on ANN posted this as reassurance of the new music guy. Well I don't know about that..
