Doesn't look my style. No thanks. Waiting for Yamato 2199 part 2. I might take the plunge and watch Blood Orphans and Origin. I've missed Gundam a lot lately and it was always my favorite anime franchise but honestly, fuck anime. Kill La Kill burned me good.

Started "My Hero Academia" I know it's cheesy but it's so earnest about it I can't help but find it somewhat endearing.

I'm sick and tired of vapid entertainment, from The Last Jedi to....whatever. So I'm rewatching LOGH.

Haven't watched non-DragonBall Super anime in a long, long time. I quit anime in like 2014 I think. I have no idea what's good. But I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter. The kind of anime I like isn't made anymore aside from stand outs like Yamato 2199. I'm fine with that. I'm an anime connoisseur. No need for anything new.

welcome to the classic anime club, most of us are late 20s -30s weirdos

It's also depressing and nihilistic as fuck, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Great series and a surprisingly strong English dub too.

Oh yeah, Food Wars is the only current show that I watch every week. Is there anywhere that I can watch the spring elections or whatever the fuck the episodes are called that crunchyroll doesn't have?

I guess I'll binge DB Super before ArcSys game comes out.

I had to torrent the OVAs from Nyaa- there's four of them total and IIRC the last one might as well be episode 1 of season 3.  Didn't watch season 3 until I saw those...really don't understand why Crunchyroll couldn't have added them.  The OVAs I watched had kind of shitty subs so be warned on that.  Decent enough to get the gist of it.

LOGH is still amazing. I haven't seen it in like 10 years so I'm really happy with it. Actually, I'm more than happy. Now that I have more life experience I'm actually enjoying it even more, which rarely happens with anime.

Such a classic.

LOGH is still amazing. I haven't seen it in like 10 years so I'm really happy with it. Actually, I'm more than happy. Now that I have more life experience I'm actually enjoying it even more, which rarely happens with anime.

Such a classic.

Quoting myself but this ed is just so beautiful. The lyrics, the singing, the power of the singers words (might help to know Japanese but I don't think so), the orchestration, the visual of Yang and Julian walk by their fellow soldiers. It always struck me as an amazing ED, but I could never articulate how beautiful I find it to be, even as an adult. It perfectly fits the show.

As I watch more (up to ep 17 on my rewatch), I'm falling more and more and more in love with the show...again. It really is like falling in love all over again. It has so much to say: democracy vs dictatorship. Is democracy truly good? Is dictatorship truly evil? What is the nature of man? And it asks these questions through the shows imagery, but also sometimes quite literally. All while never truly providing an answer, and allowing the viewer to come to their own conclusions. I have to admit that rewatching it, I believe I underestimated how much it influenced the younger me. Of the "mature genre fiction", LOGH was probably my first introduction. Before I ever watched Blade Runner, or even Full Metal Jacket I think. Before I ever ventured into the deep pool that is Star Trek. And it turns out now that I'm rewatching, it's always what I'm using as a base to compare similar entertainment to although it hasn't been a conscious act. I wasn't used to media where there was no pretext of good guys vs bad guys. I mean, I flirted with it in things like Suikoden III, of course. So  I definitely had those leanings. But not the way LOGH does it, where there truly is no good nor evil, just man. I watched LOGH before ever reading an ASOIAF book, for example. And more than I can admit, went on to influence me a lot, even politically. Even now after all these years, I think LOGH does the "there are no good or bad guys" motif the best. It really is about human nature, power and the responsibilities that come with it, pride, excess, corruption, war, and so many other things. It has so much to say with its density and I'm so happy its even better in my older age.

S-tier anime classic.

There's also Poptepipic, Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san, Junji Ito Collection and Violet Evergarden this month. Overlord comes back too but I still gotta see the first season.

And I'm late as shit with all my stuff. Still a couple episodes left from Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou and haven't even started Mahoutsukai no Yome and the latest Owarimonogatari. Houseki no Kuni looks interesting but I'll probably put that off for a while. Mahoujin Guru Guru too, I picked that up when it started but stopped halfway through for whatever reason. Good shit though.

Also the other day I found out that I've been following Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou mangaka on tumblr for years. I really like her animation style.
