As far as gimmicks go I prefer Motion + to Beast Mode Link.  Assuming the level design is on par I don't really see what warrants the huge reaction.

it's probably for the E3 demo.  Nintendo fans aren't used to video games, so they need help on how to play.

most of what they showed is straight up Wii Sports Resort and it works there.  I said it before, but I'm serious, it is 100% taken out of Wii Sports Resort

Sword fighting is Sword fighting from WSR
The flying bug is the plane game
Bomb stuff is bowling
archery is...archery

I do need to get a wireless nunchuck, though.  The wire was really annoying in the small bit of RS2 I played.

Aonuma said in this Iwata Ask thing that they took out the sword controls and then put it back when it supposedly worked well in Wii Resort. Maybe that is why it isn't as polished.

The only time things ever messed up for me in WSR was if you swung the sword too much and too fast then it'd get off-center.

So I'm going to trust that it's interference for now.

I don't see how you can judge much from the video. If the actual gameplay structure has changed, how would you know that from the video? There were definitely Zelda cliches in the video, but no way to tell if there are new stuff.

Well, Rez was a pretty original property when it came out, and Child of Eden is the first followup in like 9 years... not to mention it also features motion control (which admittedly I don't care for) and we don't know the entire details on how it plays. So no that's not similar to a game series which gets 1-2 new editions every year on the same engine. What is Gears 3 doing that's different from 1 and 2?

Because people are claiming to be excited and yet the actual game they showed looked like shit, art style aside - which looks equally generic.

How can you be excited for the game based on what we've seen, aside from the fact it has ZELDA in the name? That's what I'm questioning.

I've never been a fan of waggle control.  And yes, I know it's an early version, but it didn't speak well for the game when Miyamoto himself was having trouble doing slashes and throwing bombs (I'm not talking about when the game glitched out either, this was before that).

Huh? With TP's reveal you knew it was years off. With this game, they said it's supposed to launch NEXT YEAR and it looks pretty bad.

As for the graphics, they're okay, but the art looks generic. As much guff as TP gets for its more realistic style, it had great art and at least looked remotely creative -- shadow monsters falling out of portals with confetti particle effects and all.

This, by contrast, looks like a generic game made by Rare or some other dev.

I thought most of the art in TP ranged from generic-decent to generic-bland.  Really was not much of a looker by the time it came out, and looks even worse now.  I'm not saying this looks great or anything though.

It's pretty generic but it's still a few steps up from TP.

I guess this is wholly subjective then.

These were the some of the first images revealed for TP.

Say what you will about TP, and its ultra matoor style, but it didn't look generic.

I'd like to chalk it up to the fact that this game is early in development, but it's not. It's supposed to come out half a year from now.

Right now I remain skeptical until more footage is seen, but until I see decent controls and something remotely interesting consider me on board the meh train.
