I haven't really had an issue w/ the look and feel of the computer animation in Sailor Moon until this most recent episode.  Sailor Mars looked godawful.  I do like that they're following the story of the manga because the art style in that can make things seem a bit jumbled when everything gets shoujo stylized during the action scenes and it's difficult for me to keep track of who is actually doing what.  I'm currently reading Volume 4 and there are some scenes where all I can make out are the sex of the participants, not who they are individually.

In other news, In Clothes Called Fat is an amazing book.  I'm very happy that Vertical is publishing josei manga.  It's one of those things which is so under served in the market.

the mecha porn and music are absolutely beautiful but every episode is the same, banager gets emo, some old guy or gal scold him, he gets his together only to fall apart at the end. repeat.

Ep3 of SM Crystal was super fly. The Negaverse stuff is easily the most interesting part of the update since we get to see the villains as actual characters and not just cartoonish bafoons.

It's a major plot point, but I still can't get over the stupidity of Luna thinking everyone BUT Usagi is the moon princess. Spoofed tremendously in SMA.

My interest in anime/manga has waned to almost nothing over the last 6 years but 2 days ago I finished reading something which reminded me of why I got into this shit in the first place. That manga was Knights Of Sidonia by the awesome Tsutomu Nihei. It is much more mainstream-friendly than his past works, but it still manages to deliver that special flavor of sci-fi that only Nihei and, to a further extent, anime/manga can provide. It was the first manga I read all year and I loved every chapter of it. I'm not sure if I will follow it monthly or if I will let a few more volumes come out before I go back to it, but this is definitely something I will stick with.

Here in America, when we're reviving shows from 20 years ago we pretty much go "Oh it's an existing franchise? Have a ton of money!" See Knight Rider, etc.

Sailor moon crystal had crazy numbers when it premiered in the west. I'm not sure why they're being so conservative about the budget. Maybe they're testing to see if there's interest and later seasons will have better budget. Then again it's Toei and they are very, very all over the place these days even with shows like One piece.

Toei is pretty much the epitome of suckage, except for the rare gem like Kyousogiga.

Sidonia also has an anime series. 13 episodes are out now [and available on Netflix], with another 13 starting up in November.

Ping Pong the Animation is only 11 episodes, and absolutely amazing. I highly recommend it. I dont even give a shit about Ping Pong.
