I realized how crazy the situation was when the Spurs started running their offense through whichever of Parker and Ginobili were being guarded by Shane Battier, because that was the easier matchup compared to Tony Allen.

Also, Zach Randolph goddamn.

Confession - I got goosebumps when the crowd started chanting 'Tony Tony'. Great when fans recognize when a role player is kicking ass like that. He made Manu's life hell. And it is a testament to Manu's creativity and skills that he still had an impact. I sooooo wanted to see Allen on Kobe, 'cause he murderated him when he was with the Celtics. The problem back then was that he couldn't be trusted to make a layup or not foul a non-shooter on a 3 with a second on the clock etc. Now he is almost under control. He's the new Ron Artest!

Also, Grizz won 3 of 4 against OKC in the regular season. If Allen can put the leash on Westbrook, it will be a very interesting series. Perkins is hurt and not that effective, so Gasol and ZeeBo will continue to beast it inside. OKC still has a ton of weapons though, and the best overall player in Durant. OKC in 7?

Marc Gasol with the ball near the elbow, finds Conley cutting towards the basket who passes to a wide open Randolph for the jumper.  Beautiful play.

Grizz have got this first game on the road. They play tough D and they take high percentage close up shots on offense. The thunder are in for a big fight in this series.

It's gonna be a defensive series throughout.

Probably the two best defensive teams in the league.

Great first half for the Heat.

But this series is going to be back and forth all the way through even if the Heat take this first game.

Westbrook's a helluva player, but he's shown some surprisingly bad body language at times.  There was one play in the game they lost to Denver where he thought he had been fouled, was the last player back on defense, and it let his man get wide open to set up someone for a 3.

Still, he's 22?  There are worse things.

Upset night!  Yesss.  And the Mavs taking one at the Lakers home is pretty big – probably won't really affect the series overall, but it makes me realize that honestly either the Grizzlies or Thunder both have a great chance of beating the Lakers.

Thank god, too.

I really didn't think the Mavs could win this one, if anything, I thought they'd have a better shot at Game 2. I figured Kobe was going to come out gunning in Game 1 (and he did) but they managed to slip by anyway. :rock

It definitely was kind of a stolen game. If felt like the Lakers were in control the entire night. And Kobe got a long rest and was put back in to close out the game in the 4th. But the Mavs played some good defense down the stretch (gasp) and hit some key shots.

Thunder handle business tonight and seem to be blowing out the Grizzlies. Also this whole Shaq coming back thing seems to be highly unlikely now to me. And even if he does play how will he manage to play any significant minutes.

While the Heat's offense still doesn't function like a great team offense usually does they are getting one of the benefits I kind of hoped would happen in the playoffs. The Celtics are wearing down trying to control both Wade and Lebron. And Lebron and Wade are able to kind of rest. As one is going off the other is resting. And then he starts to go off so the other can rest a bit in return. It must be a bit disheartening for the Celtics as they have no down time.

They look slow partly because Wade and Lebron fly around the court. In that sense they are slow compared to those two or in rotation to try to cover those two.

It's over. Mavs have this game. Up 2-0. Shocking.

I still don't trust the mavs to win the series because of their history but they are in great shape to do so and statistically likely to do so.

They closed out really well against Portland on the road but yeah this is pretty shocking. Almost Nobody picked them to win this series.

Tyson Chandler really helps them on defense. Dirk is playing insanely. And fucking JJ Barea killed the Lakers tonight. JJ fucking Barea.

Mavs winning the first two on the road is great, because they're gonna be coming back to Dallas riding high and the Lakers are gonna come into Dallas already in a big rut. No guarantees, obviously, as 2006 showed, but they've proven that this Lakers team isn't unbeatable.
