Odom's foul was bad but not necessarily worth getting thrown out of the game, but the refs probably did the right thing by doing it to establish that sort of thing wouldn't happen. Then Bynum does that. ugh.

Yeah, Odom's hit was kinda cheap, but not horrible. The game's done though, so they just threw him out to settle things down. Bynum though...man. That was totally different.

just finished watching on League Pass. The Bynum foul REALLY pisses me off, easily one of the worst, most dangerous and most unnecessary fouls I've seen. Phil should have pulled his starters before it got to that point. Carlisle was insane leaving Dirk on that long as well, with a 30pt lead. Bynum was utterly lacking in remorse in the locker room afterward, so I bet he gets a major suspension and fine. Though what does he care, he's 21 and a multi-millionaire. JJ Barea could have broken his neck on the play and never earned another cent in the league but OH WELL, IT IS WHAT IT IS. I hate that phrase. The most pussy-ass non-explanation, non-apology there is.

Overall, a very enjoyable experience though. Not quite on par with Game 6 in 2008, but pretty damn good. Humiliations galore.

I wonder if Bynum knows he is getting traded (to Orlando for Howard?). May be reading too much into him removing his jersey, but it would explain a lot of the obvious locker room issues if he had gotten hints about that over the past few months. There has obviously been plenty of press speculation as well. He's still a fucking punk though, Barea is twice the man he is at half his size.

Magic basically said there will be big trades, no-one is sacred (although unclear if he meant Kobe was on the table). It was very interesting that he was just sitting there nodding along during the rampant speculation about a trade for Howard - Magic is still part owner of the Lakers so that would be VERY close to tampering. He might get zinged for that.

Anyway, onward and upward. I guess the Mavs have all the momentum going into the West Finals now, but it's not like they match up that well against either the Grizz or the Thunder. They haven't had to face really top-notch defense yet. But they definitely have a real shot - and how ironic would it be for them to be matched up against the Heat again?

Even the typically guillible press were reluctant to write their hagiographic articles about how Kobe should never be counted out because of his overwhelming desire to win.

Maybe now ESPN will finally fire those Kobe jockers that make up more than 1/2 of their basketball team. ESPN has been the biggest culprit for the cliches and banality that have plagued basketball discussion in the last few years.

Still, in basketball terms he ain't scrap. He's 23, the league's second or third best center, and a key part of two championship teams. He'll be the best chip Orlando can get in return if Dwight wants out, barring some crazy Westbrook/Perkins for Howard/Nelson type offer.
