One final note before I head off to bed. Bosh has clearly lost his confidence. He's always been as fragile as an egg and he's pretty much cracked. So what coach would think its a good idea to leave him out on the perimeter hoisting 3's where as a player that tall and at Bosh's shooting skill level you would need the absolute most confidence to perform well.

Bosh is 14-50 in his last 5 games. (28%) How long will it take Spoelstra to try something different. He's not going to shoot himself out of this funk in the current situation he is being played. I'll just leave out the non-rebounding he's doing. He shot 54% during the season. You're using him incorrectly especially at his current confidence level.

Despite the loss, the Spurs look like a better matchup for the Heat.  Unfortunately for the Heat, they seem to know this and thus played on cruise control for much of the game.

Like I said I don't know that they are a better match-up. Clearly on defense San Antonio is a better match-up for the Heat but it reminds me of the Mavs where people (myself included) kept waiting for the Heat to pick it up and before long it was obvious that the Mavericks were actually the better team. Just one game of course but this game so reminded me of some of those Maverick games where it felt like Miami was in control but then suddenly the Mavericks execute properly in the final quarter.

Bosh's confidence wouldn't affect him if you suddenly changed his role from what its been all season?  It'd be nice for the Heat if he could become Raptors Bosh to make up for Wade being hobbled, but I've got serious doubts whether he can flip the switch like that.

Missed more of this game than I wanted to.  Hopefully I'll be able to watch the rest of the series.

My question is..

why the FUCK did miller play more minutes than battier and birdman?

Great game though, I think thats the sort of game we'll see every game this series.  Gonna go to 7 I think.

If Bosh didn't take that dumb 3-pointer, and instead Lebron drove for the foul/layup against Duncan, this would be a Heat win.  Oh well.  Heat do well usually off of loses.

His three points attempts and his perimeter play in the post-season are already up over his regular season averages which were fairly high compared to his career averages.  So he's already playing an exaggerated version of how he played during the regular season with almost all his shots from out deep. It was alright early in the playoffs against lesser competition and also because he was hitting more of them. But it hasn't been effective at all recently so I'd be happy to see any change including less shots instead of him forcing 3 pointers or long shots he's isn't going to make.

are you talking about bosh?

Bosh should stick ONLY to that elbow jumper with this team.  Let Allen or Battier shoot those 3s (even though Battier is shooting like shit right now).

Regardless, Lebron should have drove against Duncan that possession.

I agree. The philosophy changed however during the course of the season and increasingly so in the the playoffs to feature him as almost a pure perimeter player to facilitate the idea of spreading out the floor and Miami having capable shooters spread all around.

The main thing is clearly the Pacers and Spurs want him to take that shot relative to the other options on the floor. So they are eager to give it to him. Like what happened late in the game when Lebron passed to him instead of driving in.

There'll also be more room inside for Lebron and Wade if Bosh starts hitting his midrange shots.  The Spurs' big men are content to sit back and watch Bosh launch his 3s.

I wonder if Lebron would start guarding Parker earlier next game.  He did a pretty good job.  Parker's buzzer beater was mostly luck.

Good game, can definitely tell both teams match up well. Bosh's three was one of the more baffling moments though, just seemed really odd in contrast to multiple Spurs players turning down similar shots to find a closer/more open teammate.

Duncan is going to feast on him all series, and Birdman too.

Obviously a huge game in a few minutes. Miami has responded pretty well this season when their backs were against the wall and its certainly against it tonight. And they are at home.

But the Spurs are such a consistent team that it makes anything possible.

How many bonehead moves will Spoelstra make tonight and how many three's will Bosh take.

Half time. Game was very similar to the first one except with more San Antonio turnovers. Nothing to suggest however this still won't come down to the wire with things being extremely close. A 5 point lead isn't much at all with how these offenses operate.

Yeah,  but... LeBron only has four points.   He will have a huge second half.   Great game so far.   If the spurs hadn't hit so many threes (a few of them fuck ball esque), this would be a double digit lead

Can't watch the game tonight but listening to it here and there

It sounds like Spurs were focusing mostly on Lebron and the rest of the Heat took advantage by hitting unchallenged shots

Is that accurate?

Not sure what to say about that game. It was close and then Miami went into complete beast mode. That's that extra gear they seem to occasionally display that no team can match.

The Spurs are one of the only championship teams that I can think of that you can tell they know when they don't "have it" to win a game and just sort of go into relax mode to finish games.

The odds were heavily with Miami to win that game for various reasons but the way the Spurs got completely taken apart there down the stretch when it seemed to be a fairly winnable game was surprising to me. Especially since Lebron wasn't having a very good game at one point.

Whatever though. It's one game.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/kings/2013/06/10/kenny-smith-sacramento-general-manager/2407325/

If the Kings do this lol.

I like Kenny and Charles and I think they make the occasional insightful comment (mixed in with a lot of dumb comments) but no way either of those two should be GM's or coaches.

Maybe Kenny can prove me wrong though. I legit don't think it makes sense for Barkely to move out of the broadcast booth though for lots of reasons.

From the sound of it, Kenny would be the face and someone experienced would guide him along. Evaluating talent is important, but knowing the cap, how to use it and dealing with agents are the part of being a GM that gets forgotten about. I somehow doubt Kenny has any experience with manipulating cap rules.

It could also be this is some lower tier job in the front office. Renadive is probably replacing just about everyone.

The Game 3 winner in NBA Finals series that are split 1-1 has won the title 12 of 13 times (since the 1985 format change to the 2-3-2 series). That means history is on the side of Tuesday night's winner. The one team to lose the NBA Finals after splitting the first two games and winning Game 3 was the 2011 Heat against the Dallas Mavericks.
