I don't like the Pistons and tend to avoid NBA basketball.  :goty2

Andre Drummand is going to be a beast though. I heard Josh Smith has already been benched  :lol

I think he got benched last game, but I expect Josh to play a lot tonight. Going against John Salmons can do wonders for a guy's career.

kinda glad that Westbrook's shot wasn't the game winner

Otherwise, some idiots in the media would be talking nonstop about how Westbrook's killer instinct makes him better than KD

It's pretty hilarious that Dwight's post game is so disrespected that Charles and Shaq think they can improve him with 5 minutes of tips.

But post play really can be that simple, for the most part.  Dwight has his pivot move and leads with his shoulder and thats it.  With his size, he should be able to back down with his ass on one to two dribbles, then spin to the baseline for an easy bank or layup or dunk.  He has the size and strength to do it, but he just fucking doesn't.

Eh, I don't think he has "strength" as it relates to a post game on the level of a Zach Randolph or Eddy Curry.  When you hear coaches or players talk about having to contain Dwight, it's always been his quick leaping ability that gives them problems, rather than him muscling guys off their spot.

Yeah, Dwight tends to rely mostly on his upper body strength which usually gets him an offensive foul after several shoulder bumps in the chest of his defender

Watch how Gasol plays.  He backs down even longer than Dwight but doesn't get called much for offensives because he uses his butt and back to create space

Even still though, he has good upper body strength.  Maybe he can't back down people with his butt, but if he posted on or above the block with his ass towards the hoop, he should still be able to elbow or shoulder his way to a baseline clear-path basket.

This is just from what I've seen from him in the few games I've watched this year, so maybe this is an outlier set of circumstances for him, but it just looks like he has no will to back down or to even look to the middle for second options.  I just always see him pivot back to where he's facing the basket.  It's frustrating to watch.

He keeps it too real.

I'd love to see him coach in the NCAA. Really seems like he'd be perfect.

Yeah using your ass, having a solid base, and having nice body kinesthetics are huge things for a post game. It's why some really gifted athletes who seem like they should have a killer post game don't.

Mutumbo didn't really have a post game despite his size advantage on most nights. Neither he or Dwight had the frame for it. I think Dwight should focus on his quicks.

It's just a weird multitude of things. The Pistons are reaching in a lot and that's causing some of the Kings turnovers. So, it's like, okay you're gonna let it be a physical game. Then the Pistons get a little bump or touch foul on the other end and it's an instant whistle. There's phantom loose ball fouls on rebounds involving everyday boxing out. Calling moving screens on common hand-off plays, the kind that didn't get whistled in the previous TWolves game.

And then there's Cousins taking a lot of contact with no calls. On one play, Drummond or Monroe was basically arm-barring him to keep him from getting the pass. Leads to a turn over. On the other end, he jumps a pass, gets hand and ball, gets called for a foul. It's like the crew is trying to bait the Kings, namely DMC. Even the ESPN crew is acknowledging it, and ESPN is normally scared shit of bringing the refs up.

I can see that happening with someone like Cousins.  Rasheed Wallace got called for ticky-tacky fouls because he showed up the refs and got a bad rep.  Players just can't fuck with the refs in this league.

Cousins with 14 & 10 with 3 blocks without a technical foul. Gotta praise Mike Malone for what he's done with Boogie.

Defense is better as well. And they pass the ball on offense. There just hasn't been a reliable scoring option besides Cousins and Thomas so far. The swingman position has been rather empty minus some decent games from McLemore and Thornton.

The problem is that the Maloofs/Petrie assembled a bunch of heroball guys, so a set offense where you shoot without a dribble makes no sense to most of the scorers on this team. So either they return to fuckball to score, or they play decent basketball and work through Cousins, but Thornton and Salmons brick shots all night. They really need McLemore to start emerging.

Really, developing Cousins so that he's improving/motivated/happy going forward is Malone's most important job at this point.  I'm sure the front office would rather see progress with their younger players rather than an extra five or six wins at this point in the rebuilding cycle.

Lebron went 13 of 18 from the Field.

So in the last two games he's gone 27 of 36 in field goals.

 :noah

So at the moment he's shooting 61% from the field for the season. 52% from 3 point range.

My lord.

Also Beasley is averaging 10 points a game and shooting 64% for the season in 4 games played.

I wonder who kicked Kyrie's ass.  I could see him as that annoying ball hog who's angry at people for not defending/rebounding while constantly leaking out  for easy buckets.

We have entered an age when James could win Sportsman of the Year every year and probably should. His domination of the basketball world is so thorough he seems to be competing only against himself.

Pistons couldn't even beat the Lakers LOL

It's early in the season but Knicks already look done.  I don't think a coaching change will do much.

Maybe they can trade Melo while they still can?

Based on how Melo's teammates are playing even after he called them out, it's clear that they don't care much for him.
