"It's huge," James said when asked about the impact of Blatt's timeout request being missed by the officials. "Obviously, we all know we didn't have any timeouts at that time and we call one, we get a T. So, that's why we're a unit. That's why we're a team. And players make mistakes, coaches make mistakes and we have to be able to cover for one another. And T-Lue did that by covering for Blatt and I just try to cover for my guys on the floor. That's why we're a unit."

That's kinda shocking. Seems like he had the team buying in, to me. Hmmmm.

Not surprising to me. There had been a lot of criticism of the way the Pelicans ran their offense (they were near the bottom in passing and transition scoring).

Also, teams seem more comfortable these days firing coaches after good seasons.  The idea is some coaches may be good at developing young players and creating a professional culture, but might not be able to take the team to the next level.  The Grizzlies and the Warriors have had good results after doing this, the Kings not so much, and the Thunder should arguably have moved on from Brooks a couple years ago.  I'd throw Randy Wittman in there but this postseason has been so weird.

I legit think it came down to that one game they lost to the Warriors. It sort of had the season go from being a fairytale to being one of failure narrative wise.

Not saying that's necessarily fair but it is what it is.

Likewise, that one AD buzzer-beater against the Thunder meant they were a "playoff team" rather than a "lottery team."

You hope that actual NBA front offices don't make important decisions using results-based hot take logic, but...

I like that Lebron isn't bringing up the ball everytime up court. It's basically allowing them to get into their offense better.

Notes

Great first half for Lebron
Better Cavs offense
Perkins is still shit.
Bulls really miss Gasol (obviously)

Great game from Lebron and the Cavs except for their shit play to start the game and for most of the 4th quarter. Game should never have been that close. Should have been like a 20 point win.

If the Cavs somehow manage to win (I think GS beats them, but who knows) Glen Shinobi's tears are going to be so deliciously epic.

If the Cavs got there, I think they would stand a chance against the Clippers or Grizzlies but not the Warriors. So they should be heavily rooting for an upset out west.

Bulls lost the series by giving up Game 4. Mike Dunleavy's old ass was the best scorer on their squad for sections of the game, and that's just sad.

This is pretty crushing for the Bulls. This is a team they were beating and imo isn't as good as those Miami teams. So this was a perfect opportunity for them.
