So tonight I had the PS3 on and suddenly felt the urge to play some new game, something quick and inexpensive : Boy what a pretty depressing experience.
Hey FF Tactics, it's a classic and it's right up my alley ! It's on PSN right ? Well yeah, but not on the European one. I switch to the US account I made a while back and never used but heh, it won't accept my PayPal because "password is invalid". I re-enter my info twice to make sure but to no avail. I try again from the phone but PayPal won't link either from there, except the error message doesn't say anything about the password. Guess a PayPal with an European adress is a no go ? (Any pointer as to the exact hiccup would be appreciated BTW).
Well shit... Not in mood to start a 80h RPG but maybe I could get Persona 4, I loved P3:FES and surely this one is available ? Nope, not in the EU. OK while on US store, I saw a couple of PS2 ports for the Nobunaga's Ambition series, would be curious to see what the fuss is... oh wait, not on EU store either.
Maybe a ice hockey game, it's been a long time ? Guess what, the only one is NHL13 at the sweet price of 40 euros
I then spent another hour aimlessly browsing, experiencing the mandatory Store crash and struggling with the horrendous listings, and only came up with a handful of titles that could interest me (Front Mission 3 but I already completed it back on PS1, Parasite Eve II but I got cold feet, the latest Space Hulk game but it's apparently somewhat middling and at 29 euros, Baseball Superstars 2...). It's now 11pm, way too late to start a download for a quick game, I decide to resume what I was originally planning : watch some Youtube vids.
I know I'm picky and all but I was super underwhelmed. There's a couple of recent indie titles that piqued my interest but if it's at all on PSN, it's only for PS4. Store is as shitty as always and (unsurprisingly) prices are all over the place, with some games still fetching 69,99 despite being several years old and made half-obsolete by sequels.
