THE SIMSPSONS ARCADE GAME IS COMING XBLA/PSN?

Sort of.  You only "own" those games so long as you're a Playstation Plus member.  Meaning, if you buy a month, after that month all those "free" games can't be played.

The other thing is that these games won't always be Playstation Plus bonuses.  It's a weird system.  I only got in it because of the Target pricing thing.

i think that once you download (or start to and cancel out) something you can always go back into your download history and redownload, as long as you are a PS+ member

THE SIMSPSONS ARCADE GAME IS COMING XBLA/PSN?

Yep, info about it leaked last Fall from the Australia ratings board.

My wife is psyched to play it again.

Here's the thing, if you're like me and figure you're going to be paying for PS+ for the next 20 years or whatever because $50 a year for a grab bag of bad games is sort of exciting in a "I'm bad at math" way, kind of like buying crappy games on Steam sales for $3 to get a ticket to maybe win a crappy game worth $3 with a 1/20 chance, if that's you then, the "games go away after you quit" doesn't really matter.  All that matters is if they ever get anything you would actually want to play.

If you are like normal people, then it's more like "This is a rental service.  If I actually play through and enjoy all these free games in a year and then quit my subscription, it might be worth it".  But if you're going to backlog them all and never get to them and your backlog of PS+ games grows per month and then you quit and lose it all, that's a total waste of money.

And because when you subscribe you don't get access to back catalog of free PS+ games but when you stay subscribed you keep access to back catalog, there's sort of a point to get in as soon as you can and stay in to accumulate a large library of free games to play before you quit.

/end Sony shilling.

I've got PS+ free through the end of March, but I have no interest in paying for it after that. Buying Simpsons Arcade.

I dunno, I signed up last May for $50 to get Stacking.  Here's what I've gotten so far that I would have actually bought with real money:

Stacking ($15), Marvel Pinball ($15), RE1-3/Crash 1-3/Spiro 1-3/Syphon Filter 1-3 (worth a couple bucks all combined), some discounts on a few games like Contra Uprising and Outland (maybe $10-15 saved total), Uncharted Comic Book ($5-10), and Simpsons Arcade coming up + whatever is in the next few months.  Plus got all the Uncharted 2 DLC for free if I ever want to play the MP again.  So I think it'll have landed close to even.

If you didn't have a PC or a X360 stuff like BttF full series, Tomb Raider Underworld, Far Cry 2, etc... are all fairly decent free stuff.

More free stuff.  For once, I don't own most of it and they are not games that you would have to pay me to play.  Will play Shank 2 and try out Shift 2.  Were either of those any good?  I never played Shank 1 because the demo kind of sucked and I heard the full game kind of sucked.

Gotta admit that PS+ is a very good deal if you do the yearly sub.

I hadn't seen this topic the first time around, so my reactions were, in order:
OMG, Far Cry 2 is free!
Oooh! Comix Zone and Golden Axe are free, too!
Time to use that free month of PSNPlus+ or whatever Sony gave me for accidentally giving my user information to Kazakstan!
Oh, wait, it's for February, we're already at the end of March.
Oh, and the games will only work for as long as I have the PS+ subscription, which is a month.
And it will only work on my PS3, which I'm not taking back to the USA immediately.
And I'd have to turn on my PS3 for all of this to work, anyway...
Title: Re: Shilling for Sony: PS+ less bad than usual this month, maybe.
Post by: cool breeze on March 27, 2012, 12:17:33 PM
so far PS Plus paid for itself with discounts.  then again, I got my PS Plus sub for $15 at target.

/shill

I'm pretty excited for HOTD4.  Barely played it in the arcades and judging from the HOTD3 demo it'll control great with the move.  Not a PS Plus exclusive, but I do save a whopping 3 dollars!

though it's pretty dumb that ps plus doesn't do anything for the vita.  cloud saving is one way to get around locked saves, like how I can backup my Dark Souls save, or how you can cloud save iOS games normally tied to the app.

Rock of Ages was supposed to be pretty dece right?

Wasn't a fan, personally. There was absolutely no challenge in the story mode unless you try to get all the keys, and that was more frustrating than fun because it takes a bit of trial and error and a bit of luck to get some of them. The only thing I thought it had going for it was the presentation as they got down the Monty Python visuals and humour pretty well. Actually, I did like the time trials but they were over pretty quickly.

Having said that, if it's free you may as well give it a go.

Velocity is a fun game.  It's like a shoot em up racing game.  You have a zero-shift like teleport mechanic to avoid obstacles and stuff.

It's a Mini, meaning I didn't know it existed until I saw some positive talk and that it's free for PS+ people.  But it's worth checking out.
Title: Re: Shilling for Sony: PS+ less bad than usual this month, maybe.
Post by: originalz on May 03, 2012, 11:45:19 PM
I don't know how the hell Sony expects people to buy Minis otherwise.  For some reason it's the only category in the store that separates all the games by each alphabetical letter instead of a group of letters.  Like anyone's going to waste their time going down the entire alphabet.

There are a lot of cool Minis that unfortunately don't get the attention they deserve because the developers don't believe in releasing trailers, and of course Sony negligence (largely SCEA's doing, since the Minis idea was an SCEE one and they at least attempted to promote those games).

One of my favourites last year was The 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wnEw3FqCvs), the developer just released this new one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNbiEiKJyv0

It's free for US plus members right now.

Some minis are ok from the free ones I've played through PS+

But they have 2 major problems:

1) Graphical resolution.  The games are made at such a low resolution (phone resolution?) that when played on the PS3 they look TERRIBLE.  Even 2d flash stuff that could look great if it was just re-rendered at HD resolution looks blurry and a mess.  This makes me never want to play a mini on the PS3.  On the PSP they look ok, but still not great.

2) No trophy support.  With no trophies, they feel odd on a system where every other type of game has trophies.  Xbox Live Indie games have the same problem but at least they look sharp and don't have problem #1.  Though now a days, I just wait for them to re-release XBLIG on Steam with achievements and more options.

For PS4 they need to re-work both of those items if they want anybody to buy minis.  It's also a shame because there are some decent games there made by talented people but the games get completely ignored because they are minis.  Minis also seem to have an exclusive contract with Sony for a long period of time since I haven't seen anyone re-release their mini game on Steam.
Title: Re: Shilling for Sony: PS+ less bad than usual this month, maybe.
Post by: Takao on May 04, 2012, 03:08:19 PM
Minis are developed on PSP devkits, which explains the resolution and lack of trophies. Hungry Giraffe (http://www.psnstores.com/review/reviews-hungry-giraffe/) was actually able to use high res assets so the game looked great on both PSP, and PS3, but apparently Sony told them to not share their secret... I imagine it wouldn't work for most games anyways, due to the 100MB size limit.

As for your Steam comment, I don't think SCE cares enough to offer exclusivity deals. Besides that, many Minis have already been ported to iOS and Android. It's likely that the developers were either rejected by Valve, or didn't view Steam as a viable avenue.

I actually don't think Minis has a future. There's no reason to not make a PlayStation Suite game if SCE enables PS3 playback.
Title: Re: Shilling for Sony: PS+ less bad than usual this month, maybe.
Post by: Bebpo on May 04, 2012, 04:33:47 PM
I don't mean to imply that Sony is money hatting minis for exclusive periods.

But rather that the contract you sign to publish a mini on PSN probably includes a "you cannot publish this game on another platform for x amount of months" paragraph.

They're shit, but free.

This game is actually pretty good, reminds me of an oldskool DOS game.  Started to play it and like an hour later I kind of had to force myself to stop.

Just plain challenging. My memory is a bit foggy, but if I recall correctly you can choose between five stages in the beginning. Each stage is essentially one giant boss fight against one huge dude and a bunch of minions. If you beat a boss you get some kind of power, similar to how the stages work in Mega Man. I don't think I ever managed to beat more than one boss before I reached the game over screen. Beating all five of them without dying seems like a herculean task to me. The combat is something between a stylish action title and Zone of the Enders.

Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape aren't in the PC version?

in that case, I'll snag it.  those are fun.  i would want mercs also, but that would require playing the game again...

It looks very similar to Supercar Challenge which had an incredibly steep learning curve. If you own a racing wheel and know how to use it, you'll probably have fun. It was way too difficult for my racing simulation skills. I prefer driving less powerful cars.

i'm noticing a trend that heavily discounted big titles from a long time ago tend to be the free games.

they're not gonna "give away" anything good while all those free 3-month cards from the holiday bundles are still floating around out there

this seems to be the pattern they're going to follow: a bunch of good stuff around E3 so they'll have something to shill onstage for more subscriptions, and for the rest of the year just enough added to keep people clinging to those subscriptions

Seems Europe gets all the sweet PS+ stuff:

5th December: Batman: Arkham City (PS3)
5th December: LIMBO (PS3)
5th December: Vanquish (PS3)
12th December: Big Sky Infinity (PS Vita and PS3)
19th December: Mortal Kombat (PS Vita)
21st December: Knytt Underground (PS Vita and PS3)

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw AE because I never bought it since I double dipped on SSFIV and AE was only a slight upgrade from that.

Then I saw it was 19 gig download and that means you need 35-40 gigs to download & install it and I was like  :'(  I usually have about 50gigs free on my PS3, and I dunno if I want to use half of that up just to have AE around when who knows if I'll ever play it.

Downloadable X720/PS4 games are a pipe dream until these consoles come with 1tb HDDs and have steam-like download speeds/install managers.

How are the MGS games on the Vita? I may pick those up.

good so far.   I played through MGS2 and some of the VR missions.  It's a little weird at first to press on the screen to bring up the item and weapon menus, but the game was perfectly accurate at selecting stuff.  I think those are the only mandatory touch controls.  They have optional ones for some stuff involving the back touch pad.  I hear MGS3 may have some more invasive touch controls, but I haven't played much of that yet.

also, MGS2 is mostly 30fps.  Goes up to 60 when there's absolutely no water or lighting effects on screen.  So the VR missions seem to hold 60fps.  I can't say the framerate ever got in the way though.  It doesn't get choppy or unresponsive anything.

So, not perfect like the console versions, but not as bad as, say, retrofitting it with wii controls.

Anyone got experience with the Japanese PS+?  I was just looking at their shit on my account and it actually looks pretty good, a very different selection of games from the USA one.  I remember reading somewhere that the games themselves expire after some time, but I couldn't really find anything on the page to verify that, so maybe it was just some pro journalist making a translation error or something?

How did they handle all that pressure sensitivity for the regular PSV buttons?? What about the fact that those games have quite a few moves which require up to 4 simultaneous button presses which already was barely doable on a Dual Shock, how awful are those to perform on the PSV?

I keep putting off a Demon's Souls playthrough.  Dark Souls was amazing but kind of ruled my life for a month :lol

I played a couple hours of Demon's Souls and like the control response better.  It's a bit more responsive than the PC version of Dark Souls at solid 30fps.

Did you at least get a chance to play Dark Souls?

Damn.

Well, both are pretty unique games, i.e. Dark doesn't render Demon obsolete. But you might wanna start with DeSo just to appreciate the evolution of the series. You're for some pretty good, albeit janky at times... times!

I watched a buddy play through all of DeSo back in college, so I know what I'm in for, just haven't had the time or motivation.

Malicious is this wacky jappy game that took forever to cross over. They released an enhanced Vita version but I'm not sure if *that* crossed as well.

I thought something was wrong with my internet. Is this a common thing? Mine loads about 10% and then stops, and doesn't load any further unless I manually shuttle ahead a little, and then everything loads.

It annoyed me at first too, but it's interesting enough to keep going. I'm almost done with it now and what bothered me more was that you had to replay the puzzles when you went through the other paths. Found three endings on my own, then used a flowchart for the others to minimize repetition.

VLR is a 100x better, imo.  That goes for the writing, characters, and structure of the story.  It all flows wayyyyy better and you don't have to redo puzzles.  It's also just a more interesting setting with better drama.

I wish I had just wikipedia'd 999.

You're saving $10 on the three months (normally $18).  If you can do it multiple time and want PSN money, you'll get a year for $32 instead of $50...along with $80 PSN money that you may or many not spend.   It's a good deal if you want or don't mind having that PSN money.  Otherwise, I think the cheapest Plus has gotten is in the ~$40s, other than that one time Target sold Plus year cards for like $15 by accident.

Probably best set yet.  A bunch of games I was on the fence with but wanted to play (Soul Sacrifice, Dragons Dogma DA, Strangers Wrath HD) and some new indie stuff I'd probably have bought eventually anyhow (Resogun, Contrast, Ibb).  For once it's a month where I don't own most of it already (just Binary Domain); good times.

Yeah, I'm pretty much on a "download everything free I can fit on my HD" kick these days. I even downloaded Shadow of the Colossus, so I can shit talk it some day!

You can only shit talk it so long as you are on PS+, though.

No prob, my ps+ membership runs through July of 2015 :heh

Mercenary King's looks cool and would've bought on steam for $5-10, so that's good.  Otherwise looks like a light month.  Will try Stealth Inc & Velocity Ultra and see if they're any good and try Castle of Illusion out of nostalgia.

i loved puppeteer, as a platformer it's not worth much since it's hard to die, the jumps are somewhat floaty and there aren't a lot of them in the first place... however it's easily the last great whimsy™ i played on the ps3 and easily a joy to watch

and beside for being a kid game at times it can be dark as fuck (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp2HlN0QblY) which adds it to the charm

New changes for PS+

- Starting in June, each platform (PS3, PSV, PS4) will have TWO titles each. That's 6 games a month.
- Starting in July, every game in PS+ will be available from the start of the month, and until end of the month. No more weekly releases.
- The current "forever" free games (Uncharted, Gravity Rush, etc.) will be gone forever. No more "forever" free games.

June PS+ (NA)

- Trine 2, Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate (PS4)
- NBA 2k14, Sly 4* (PS3)
- Terrarria, Mutant Mudds Deluxe, Sly 4* (Vita)

* Sly 4 is Cross-Buy

I'm actually surprised by how negative people are towards this update. Velocity being free day 1 and cross-buy is excellent. TxK is a good steal, but I'm gonna assume most have played it. And Sony's All Turds for free is about the only way I could have given a try. I mean, I'll "download it" but not actually download it, let alone play it. But I expected more people to give a fuck lol.

Basically, I'm in the "if there's something every couple of months that I want to fuck around with for a few days, that's cool" boat. I've enjoyed screwing around with Dragon's Dogma, Skullgirls, Remember Me, hell even Brothers for an hour or so. Wouldn't have paid for any of those games, except maybe Dragon's Dogma at like $15-20.

I don't have a PS4 so can't comment on that, but it's been fine for PS3 imo.

Synapse isn't cross-buy and won't be part of next month's PS+ IGC. They probably don't want to upset the Vita people who dropped $20 on it last month, lol.

Pretty solid month for Vita though, as the rest should be cross-buy.

Totally. But get the Steam version instead of these, even for free I feel like the community on Playstation will die in a week unlike the 50-100 that somewhat still play it on Steam.

Beyond that, in December we’re adding Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition and Secret Ponchos to PS4′s IGC line up.  So, to recap:

My experience with Secret Ponchos is that I sat with 3 other people waiting for a 4th person to start a game for 10 mins, quit session and couldn't play the game because it's mulitplayer only so I deleted it :\
I like top-down action/shooters, but gimme a single player mode like Renegade Ops plz

Already have injustice/hitman/deadly prem on steam.  Downloaded Natural Doctrine since I have a JPN account.  Probably grab God Eater 2 but I don't know if I'll play either.  Looking forward to January because I actually would like to play Infamous First Light.

if I get first light, might as well uninstall second son.  500 gigs doesn't get you very far with mandatory retail installs and huge file sizes.

Killzone Mercenary is great and actually worth playing, unlike the other games.  If you have a PSTV, it is fully-compatible with the Dual Shock 3/4 and will map actions to the extra triggers and sticks (click for running, etc.).  Playing it that way pretty much gives you a full PS3 game at 720P/1080i.

Which was still surprising after the 3 games had been pulled off the shelves and gone up in insane value as rare collectors items.

But then I remembered the director saved up money and bought the series from Irem and saw the re-release of the PS2 original game is under his new company, which is rad as the games will continue to be maintained.  Even better it reminded me that his new company is picking up where they left off on Disaster Report 4 on PS3 and will be releasing it on PS4 sometime this year or next year.

Yeah I backed it but still haven't played much because I hear it's mediocre like every.single.doublefine.game.  That studio has some great artists and talent, but the game designers/directors seem pretty mediocre across the board.  They really need to hire some fresh blood with a talented pedigree in game design.

It finished; there was even a review of the Android release where the author was indignant that the game came out so long after the iOS release, and was just livid that they'd probably have to wait forever for part 2 to come out... and then posted a tiny update at the end of the article stating that the Android version contained parts 1 and 2.

IT'S ALL ABOUT RESPONSIBILITY IN GAMES JOURNALISM.

Japan PS+ is nice this week:

PS3:
Dengeki Fighting Climax - I love getting 2d fighting games for free the same week they come out full price in the US ;)  This happened like 2 months ago with Arcana Heart Max as well.  I love that I never have to buy fighting games anymore because they keep showing up on PS+ (even the ArcSys stuff like GGXrd and BlazBlu already showed up for free)
Guided Fate Paradox (aka Zettai Hero Project 3)
X-Blaze - Visual novel prequel to Blazblue.

Vita:
Meikyuu Cross Blade Infinity - Some dungeon crawler

Yeah nothing really on PS4, but JP PS+ is basically $50 a year for all the 2d fighters and jrpgs a year late.  Pretty solid deal.

I'll definitely give Gauntlet a try, but I have low expectations since I didn't like Arrowhead (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrowhead_Game_Studios)'s first two games.

King's Quest should be fun, but a single episode is kinda cheap.

Another good month for Japan PS+

Sen no Kiseki II (Trails of Cold Steel II)
Some Steins;gate spinoff for Vita
Some Shmup with tits for Vita
Lunatic Dawn PS1
Some old manga basketball game for PS2

Mainly just good for Sen II haha.  Between Sen I + Sen II + all the fighting games, I'm definitely getting my $50 worth out of this for 2015.  Last month was Tri-ace's Phantasy Star Nova for Vita, which I should probably try one of these days just to see if it's any good.

Also, US games are up.

Yeah, this is the danger, isn't it? Sony has been great about releasing compelling games on PS+, so much so that (for backlog heavy people like me) buying PSN games feels like I'm just paying to have it sit on my hard drive until I eventually see it offered for free. Every good title which hits PS+ hurts subsequent launches of PSN games.

So tonight I had the PS3 on and suddenly felt the urge to play some new game, something quick and inexpensive : Boy what a pretty depressing experience.

Hey FF Tactics, it's a classic and it's right up my alley ! It's on PSN right ? Well yeah, but not on the European one. I switch to the US account I made a while back and never used but heh, it won't accept my PayPal because "password is invalid". I re-enter my info twice to make sure but to no avail. I try again from the phone but PayPal won't link either from there, except the error message doesn't say anything about the password. Guess a PayPal with an European adress is a no go ? (Any pointer as to the exact hiccup would be appreciated BTW).

Well shit... Not in mood to start a 80h RPG but maybe I could get Persona 4, I loved P3:FES and surely this one is available ? Nope, not in the EU. OK while on US store, I saw a couple of PS2 ports for the Nobunaga's Ambition series, would be curious to see what the fuss is... oh wait, not on EU store either.

Maybe a ice hockey game, it's been a long time ? Guess what, the only one is NHL13 at the sweet price of 40 euros  :lol

I then spent another hour aimlessly browsing, experiencing the mandatory Store crash and struggling with the horrendous listings, and only came up with a handful of titles that could interest me (Front Mission 3 but I already completed it back on PS1, Parasite Eve II but I got cold feet, the latest Space Hulk game but it's apparently somewhat middling and at 29 euros, Baseball Superstars 2...). It's now 11pm, way too late to start a download for a quick game, I decide to resume what I was originally planning : watch some Youtube vids.

I know I'm picky and all but I was super underwhelmed. There's a couple of recent indie titles that piqued my interest but if it's at all on PSN, it's only for PS4. Store is as shitty as always and (unsurprisingly) prices are all over the place, with some games still fetching 69,99 despite being several years old and made half-obsolete by sequels.

The Space Hulk on PSN is like the board game (i.e. subject to aleatory whims) which is why people hated it. I like Ascension (the less RNG sequel) but it's not Space Hulk.

I was about to get a PSTV mainly for PS1/PSP games. Is Legend of Dragoon as good as people say, and does Dissidia 012 have enough variety with its playable character lineup?

Yeah, that PSN (ported from the 2013 PC title) Space Hulk game is apparently a tad on the shallow side with the random events being the main source for spicing up the tactics. I would pull the trigger at 20 Euro bucks I guess.

get the psp port of fft. it has some slowdown but it has a coherent translation for the story and tutorials so it's a way better experience. also i don't know where you're getting your info from but legend of dragoon fucking sucks. it's was a hi budget knockoff of ps1 final Fantasy games but it played like shit. i think most of its fans were young at the time of its release so they didn't know any better.

dissidia 12 has lots of characters but if try the demo first to see if you actually like the gameplay.

Vagrant Story is definitely a contender for the best game Square put out in that era.

I might wait to get another batch of games, but which is better, Grandia 1 or Final Fantasy IX?

I played through Grandia 2 in the past, loved every second of it. I really like FFVII and FFX overall, XIII had great side quests/hunting gameplay.

Also been thinking about Syphon Filter and RE2.
Title: Re: Shilling for Sony: PS+ less bad than usual this month, maybe.

Be aware that Syphon Filter controls may be surprinsingly hard to get back into. I have the third episode on PS3 and it also aged terribly in terms of graphics...
Title: Re: Shilling for Sony: PS+ less bad than usual this month, maybe.

I actually like PS1 visuals. It's right in the middle of a digital world being realized and the player having to fill in visual blanks with their imagination. Its also amazing how games differentiated themselves stylistically while they all have technical similarities.

I've played a ton of Syphon Filter 1 in the past, debating on getting that or one of the sequels, which I've barely touched in the past. Next batch of games I get are probably going to be Syphon Filter ___, RE2, and Grandia 1.

Grandia for sure. That moment when you scale the wall and finally make it over, only to discover the other half of the world. Pure magic. FFIX has its charms too and one of the best sidequest in a FF (world map treasure hunting), but it also just got a PC release which seems to be decent.

It's not, really. It's only rough at the beginning point because you don't have the Persona cards to switch between. Once you get Ai-chan a bunch of cards to fuse with, it becomes as hard as Episode: Yourself. AKA: Not very.

Oh I'm sure, I played a bit beyond that. It certainly forced me to be a bit more thoughtful and cautious, however, and that was nice. My last P3 experience was quite some years ago but overall it was not a very challenging game.

Post by: Bebpo on August 31, 2016, 10:29:38 PM
you know, I finally tried Furi last night and as a fan of character action games I didn't like it.  Once I saw it had Kingdom Hearts style multiple lifebars I was iffy, and then I saw that each life bar is basically one set of attack patterns, so bosses are actually like 5-6 bosses in a row and I might be wrong on this but if they take one lifebar away from you they get one back on their side.  Basically seemed like a game where the boss fights are long and by 3-4 lifebars in I get bored.  Also I felt like sometimes the parrying didn't work like if i hit them and they immediately parried and I immediately parry I'd still get hit.  The dodge dash is also a bit finicky.

It's ok, but I prefer my action games to be glass cannon hard and fast.  Git Gud, dodge everything, and win the fight in a minute or three at full intensity.  So 15 min drawn out boss fights of repeating patterns just isn't my thing.

Not sure if Skulls of the Shogun was free or not. I own it on most systems, so I have no idea on which platform I'll eventually finish.

I can still purchase through the store on PS4, but I'm beginning to wonder if the US website store isn't being region-locked for some reason…

Is The Order worth it even for just $3?

I know it's short and content starved, but is what actually is there any good? Would I enjoy the little time I play through it? Seems like a decent value proposition if so

(also, is this the catch-all thread for PSN sales too?)

I paid full price for it and I don't regret it. The gameplay might be bland, but it is worth to play through for the pretty visuals and decent story.

This is on sale for $20 on PSN right now. I love Warhammer as a setting, I enjoy tactical RPGs, but it looks like I'd have to play it on babby difficulty.

Anyone here have an opinion on this?

Think of a David Cage game without the fundamental flaw that is David Cage, including actually good gameplay. Now imagine it as one of the best modern slasher flicks but as a videogame.

That's Until Dawn.

Freedom Cry is about as good as a fun size bite of AC can be. The enjoyable ship combat of IV with a lot of the fat cut out (no dumbass present day stuff). The plot is pretty heavy but it is a good contrast from the main game.

For some reason I have the stupid version which requires AC IV so I'll download this to get the standalone.

Well that's annoying. Guess I'll focus on Destiny 2 dlc and Switch games over the holidays. PS Plus really need to have a VR title every month now, so we get PS3 | PS4 | Vita | VR. I'm aware that Rush of Blood is free at the moment, but that was available last month and there's no real indication that we'll get VR titles in the future.

That's exactly what I would be saying if I didn't already own those games.

Meh, real Sony fans already have physical and digital copies of both games.

At least they're finally going to drop PS3 and Vita games, though kinda silly that they're waiting another year to do it.

Yeah, good thing they’re finally getting rid of PS3 and Vita games...and adding nothing. :doge

Mad Max managed to be surprisingly close to what surviving in the Mad Max universe would be like. Basically it's you and your car scrounging around for bits of gasoline.

Mad Max has some good bits in it.

"I can rebuild your car! Make it faster! Tougher!"
"HOW FAST? HOW TOUGH?"

There's a race part in it that's some incredible bullshit though and is nearly game-breaking

Yarp, I played about half of it, after buying it digital, on sale for $8. I got my money's worth, but was stoked I didn't drop $60 on it as I'd planned. Very generic feeling, overall.

I liked it, but it gets pretty repetitive towards the end.  Basically, you unlock a new neighborhood, go in and take over rackets, kill the local boss to unlock the next story mission, wash rinse repeat.  Your character also gets pretty overpowered early on in the game so there's not much challenge.

Just days into October, Sony has already revealed what November’s PlayStation Plus games will be. But this appears to have been a clear mistake, with the announcement already gone less than an hour after it went live.

Early this morning, the PS Plus page on the PlayStation website showed not this month’s games for members, but the two headlining PlayStation 4 titles for November. Those games are Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition and Yakuza Kiwami — which are considerably more exciting than October’s offerings. It’s since gone back to normal, however; the link directs to a basic subscription purchase page.

Good month if you don't have Hitman.

They are also increasing the cloud saves from 10GB to 100GB.  :aah

Wow, this sucks. I foolishly thought they'd give us more PS4 games after ending PS Plus games for PS3 and Vita.

So from now on it's only 24 games a year instead of ~72? How nice they raised the price to $60 two years ago.
20% price hike, 66% fewer games. Profit!

Does PS4 Conan Exiles have the dick slider, or was that PC only?

It’s simplified for console babbies.

It’s just tied to the skin tone slider.

Sony really seems intent on losing subscribers prior to launching PS5. Not a good strategy. You want people locked into your ecosystem when starting a new generation.
I first started subscribing in 2013 after the launch of PS4, back when they still offered that "instant game collection" for PS Vita (Uncharted Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Wipeout 2048). Since PS Vita, they always offered at least 6 games a month (and even more when PSP was still included). Currently, the service is the least value for money it has ever been. If my subscription were to end this year (I purchased a couple of years in advance before the price hike), I'd most likely let it lapse and only resubscribe after the release of PS5.

Don‘t get too excited. The game is not good. It feels low budget not only because of licenses and they still haven‘t fixed major gameplay issues (goalkeepers :maf) that have been issues for years.

Fifa is also not great. But ti‘s printing money because people apparently love matches that end 6-5.  >:(

And of course they do this right after the "Days of Play" (e3) sale of Detroit two weeks ago where they sold it for $7.99 and I made the mistake of buying it. I want my money back.
While it hasn't happened to me before, this isn't the first time they have done this (have a sale and immediately afterwards offer one of the most discounted gamed on PS Plus.)

Wipeout is awesome, but who doesn't own this by now? I already have both a physical (European release) and a digital copy (bought during a sale a few months ago when it cost peanuts).

Can't they at least start adding PSVR games to PS Plus? :/
