Title: Michael Bay Is Insane
Post by: Cheebs on July 09, 2007, 10:21:41 AM
He is so full of himself you can't help but love it.  :lol

From his personal blog:

Quote
Michael Bay's Transformers: $246.1 million worldwide

    * Biggest first-week gross ever for a non-sequel (beating Spider-Man's $151.6 mil)
    * A global box office total of $246.1 mil, when you add in the $93.6 mil Transformers earned in 23 other countries
    * Biggest Tuesday gross ever ($27.9 mil), as well as the third-best Wednesday ($29.1 mil) and fifth-best Thursday ($19.2 mil)
    * A super-solid $16,854 per-theater average in 4,011 venues
    * A resounding CinemaScore rave of A from an audience that was two-thirds male but evenly split between young folk and old
    * A 93% positive rating at the exit polls

He put a picture of himself and calls it "Michael Bay's Transformers". Oh Bay!  :lol

After the beating the guy has taken for his past few films, he probably deserves a little gloating.

He should be using that blog space to make bi-weekly personal appologies for exposing us all to Armageddon and Aerosmith ballads.

Opening Week numbers have little to do with a movie's quality anyway. Congrats to marketing and nostalgia tho.

After the bad job he did, we should treat him with respect when he does a good job. That's distinguished mentally-challenged.

I think Bad Boy 1 was pretty decent, but Bad Boys 2 was horrid. So goddamn long and boring.

Yeah, Bad Boys II cannot be bad on the fact alone that it is used as inspiration for Hot Fuzz.

Liv Tyler is hot fo' sho'. :heartbeat

Armageddon was SOOO shitty.  And not just because the science was distinguished mentally-challenged, not just because the characters were annoying (Liv Tyler  :maf), not just because the effects were pants.

But because Bruce Willis and "Weepy Melodrama" mix together about as well as Charles Bronson and Romantic Comedy.  Yeah, that's what I want to see in every adventure film I go to see, 40 minutes of unearned sentiment.

Every Uwe Boll film I've seen was better then Armageddon, I still won't watch Pearl Harbor, no freaking way would I do that on purpose.*

*one of my bosses (the openly racist, very not-nice one) said she couldn't trust the Academy Awards anymore after Pearl Harbor didn't even get nominated for best picture.  I swear this is true.

Pearl Harbor is atrocious.  Good God that movie is terrible.  The love story and then the whole drama "omg he's dead" thing afterwards was shit-cringe-worthy

Armageddon was enjoyable as fluff entertainment.

The Island is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, so Michael Bay can pretty much go fuck himself.

Holy shit, people actually gave their money to see fucking Transformers? No wonder Hollywood keeps reeling out horrible movies. Everyone eats it up.

Lines were mad deep for Transformers when I went to see "Knocked Up" on the 4th. Nerdlingers as far as the eye could see.

Transformers' appeal is far wider than just nerds.  And it's performing well with females, which is a surprise.

See now, I didn't realize this until the movie. I thought it was the nerds who still clinged on to the Transformers. That and little kids.

Nerds never, ever, ever, ever make movies a ton of cash.  They can propel a small genre film to cult status and give it a good source of income, but they'll never be responsible for a blockbuster.

True dat, which is why I'm so damn shocked people are going nuts over this. I always thought people felt Transformers, Gundam, and anything remotely related to robots with guns was nerd shit.

It is nerd shit -- it's just extremely well marketed nerd shit.

Nerds have little boxoffice power.

Revenge of the Sith made nearly 400 million primarily from family's. Serenity made 30 million from geeks.

Comic book movies are over.  Giant robot movies are the next "big thing."

How's the Go-Bots script coming along, Willco?

This is the truth.

Everything else Bay has done sucks a fucking dick.
