I got my mom a massage for her birthday once, and she said it was the best present ever. Now my grandma wouldn't like it because she's a germophobe and wouldn't stand for a stranger touching her anywhere, but if your mom and grandma aren't neurotic I think the spa thing is a good idea. :)

What kind of statue?  The wooden Indian that you were talking about?  I'm not sure if Granny would appreciate your sense of humour.  Is your mom the half-Japanese parent?  If so, maybe you could get her a Japanese Tea set.  Same thing for Grandma if she's Japanese.
