Gerstmann made USA Today! (http://blogs.usatoday.com/techspace/2007/11/and-speaking-of.html)

Gerstmann is a superstar.
-
Whatcha gonna do when Gerstmania runs wild on you?
-
It's not the real USA Today, just a blog. Call me when he makes the print edition or appears on FOX News.
-
It's a figure of speech.
-
I bet it could get on Fox News or CNN if we emailed Jack Thompson and told him that a game reviewer lost his job for giving a murder simulator a low score to try to protect children from playing it. Then we'd just let him to the rest.
-
Do it.

you know the thing is that could actually happen.

I'm really getting sick of all this Gerstmann bullshit. People planning rallies, making t-shirts, holding protests....over this? You've got to be kidding me.
Life isn't fair and I've got enough problems to deal with than have to worry about if some company is influencing videogame reviews which I don't give a damn about anyway. I really want to kick the living shit out of some of these idiots. Do they have nothing better to do? Get a fucking life people.

It's getting out of hand. This dude Opus something or other was saying that CBS was going to run a story on this, I laughed my ass off at the thought.
-
Is it true he's fat? lol
-
I hear he has a bit of a belly.
-
They should mention that in the article. Fair, unbiased reporting.
-
Do it.

Re: Videogame reviewer fired for criticizing high-profile Murder-Sim
Dear Mr. Thompson,
As a concerned, Christian parent of two young children, I appreciate your work in attempting to curb the horrific violence present in so many of today's videogames. This so called "entertainment" is seriously sick and disturbing, and the deplorable tactics by the producers of these games to try to illegally reach out to under-age children is just disgusting. That's why I felt that I should contact you about one of their most recent, most heinous ploys. Recently Gamespot.com (a popular gaming website read by many young people) has been heavily promoting a game called "KANE & LYNCH". This is game which promotes and glorifies pointless violence in a graphic and stomach-churning manner, more-so than any game that I've ever seen in my life. The only thing that this can be called is a "Murder Simulator" as the point of the game is nothing but mowing down row after row of innocent people, including women and children. Because of the money that Eidos (publisher of Kane & Lynch) had spent on advertising at Gamespot, the executives at Gamespot required their reviewer to give it at least a 9.0 (out of 10) to make the game seem more appealing to young people. However, bold Videogame critic JEFF GERSTMANN (who had worked at Gamespot for 10 years and had no doubt seem many violent games in his tenure) was so sickened by the extreme violence that he saw, that he refused to cave into demands from his evil bosses and gave the game a much lower score instead, and warned parents that the game contained an excessive amount of foul language and violence and was not appropriate at all for children (or quite frankly anyone). Because of this he was fired from his job, and been blackballed in the videogame community. This is based on CONFIRMED information that has been reported on by multiple sources (http://valleywag.com/tech/jeff-gerstmann/gamespot-editor--on-fired-reviewer-328775.php; http://www.primotechnology.com/2007/11/29/gamespots-gerstmann-fired-allegedly-over-kane-and-lynch-review/; http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/30/rumor-gamespots-editorial-director-fired-over-kane-and-lynch-rev/) , despite Gamespot and Eidos's attempts to sweep this under a rug by paying off news outlets to convince them not to run this story. This is the most horrifying thing that I've ever heard (except the Holocaust). This man lost his job for speaking out against a violent videogame, and all because his bosses had been paid off by the videogame industry who wants yound children to buy their disgusting products. How can this be allowed to happen? Is there anything you can do to help Mr. Jeff Gerstmann, who got fired just for telling the truth? I sickens me to think that Gamespot and Eidos would be allowed to get away with this travesty.
Sincerely,
Joseph Molotovio
To send or not to send?

Why's everyone caring that he's fat? He's nasty. Go look at Ryan Davis for a real hottie. I would cause an uproar if he got fired. But he won't. Ryan is perfect. Delicious.

SEND SEND SEND
-
Quick fix: it's Eidos, not Edios.
After you change that, send it!

bagofeyes, Ichirou, ParticleReality and 1 Guest are viewing this topic.
I bet its Gerstmann
-
Alright, fixed and we'll see if he reads his email.
-
Gerstmannia is growing faster than Gerstman's waist.
-
I got a response.
I would very much like to speak with him. Any ideas how?
-
Hahahahaha
-
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
Oh my God, this is GOLD.
-
Well, what now?
any ideas?
we need to continue this for more epic lulz.

There's got to be a variety of ways to get in contact with Gerstmann. Doesn't he have a blog or IM? You should let Thompson know that Gerstmann has apparently signed a NDA, so he is not allowed to talk about his firing.
-
well, here his myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/defjeff

He has a facebook (as shown by the valleywag article)
-
Yeah, just forward him those public community links (MySpace, Facebook, etc.) and mention that he has been unwilling to speak about his termination in interviews due to a NDA he has signed with Cnet.

zomg so sexy :heartbeat
-
Also, make it sound like Cnet forced him to sign the NDA, because they don't want the media to now how focused they are on peddling violent and pornographic images to a young demographic with lots of disposable income.

I found an email through his last.fm, but the page it's on appears to be pretty old and outdated.

:bow at jeff's rap on that gametrailers tribute video. +1 respect

Oh god, this is comedy fucking GOLD.

Dear Mr. Thompson
Since he's no longer with Gamespot, his email address for that website is no longer active. I can't find another one. I don't for sure if it's true or not, but from what I've read on websites
that claim to have tried to interview him, he was forced to sign an NDA before he was fired so that he wouldn't be allowed to speak publicly about the specifics of his firing. This was to
keep him from speaking out against his former employers and their actions. Maybe you could get him to talk to you though. I searched on Google and found his MySpace page, maybe that
will help: www.myspace.com/defjeff
-
holy crap are you shitting me hahahaha
-
Heh, well I think this thing may have run it's course. He wants to read the review where Jeff says that the game is overly violent, but I just read Gerstmann's review and he doesn't mention it being violent at all, he just complains about the overuse of f-bombs. I don't think he's going to bite on that.
-
Tell them they've since edited it and removed the video review
-
Maybe it's for the better anyway. You can't really fuck with Thompson for too long before he appears with his bag of lawsuits. You're wasting his incredibly valuable time!
