please quickly explain who the fuck you are.
I don't mean to be mean but we just had a situation yesterday with a paraplegic stalker having his second joke account banned for mass PMing people pictures of small celebrity penis. we are getting the situation under control. WELCOME TO THE BORE.
anyways, so what does Prologue have? it's like $30 so I assume it comes with a decent number of cars and modes? will the demo have multiplayer? What are they adding to the next GT in terms of gameplay? I'm genuinely interested since this seems like a huge cash cow that's been getting fine tuned for a lot of years (I've never really liked a GT game though).

Why not pay an extra 300 yen and get Uncharted, which is actually not a demo
Gran Turismo fucking sucks.
Gran Turismo 4 is tedious and gruelling and slapped together with little rhyme or reason, but boy, is there ever a lot of it. From the miles-wide expanse of the main menu screen to the hundreds of cars with thousands of tweakable settings, from the scores of courses and challenges to the hundreds of times you'll have to race each track to get your hands on a decent proportion of the game's content, GT4 will keep you glued to the screen for months, in the same sense that your eyes are glued to the inside of your eyelids in the morning when you wake up with a really bad hangover after drinking cheap dog-lager in a miserable, tacky town-centre chain pub all night. And why fight it? Stay asleep, consumer.
The medical profession refers to cheap, bulky food with little or no nutritional value as being packed with "empty calories" - stuff that'll keep you chewing for a long time and make you fat, but do you no good. But that's easy for them to say, because they have good jobs and plenty of money to buy the nice healthy stuff with. Only critics and the wealthy can afford the luxury of seeing, for all their bulk, just how "empty" games like Gran Turismo 4 truly are.
Your reporter is only too aware of the precisely zero difference that this article will make to the game's success. There probably isn't a single person alive in this country today whose decision about whether or not to buy GT4 will be shaped by a review, here or anywhere else. The games industry, by one means or another and helped by the cynicism and short-sighted stupidity of magazine publishers, has successfully lifted reviews all but entirely out of the buying equation. Your correspondent can only glance helplessly around at what videogames have become and the seemingly-unstoppable forces driving them there, look back at the promise they once held, and sink ever-further into despair. And oh my God, I can't believe it. I've never been this far away from home.
every thread around this place has become a bait thread recently
one game will NEVER justify 600 dollars. distinguished mentally-challenged fellow
I happen to love GT, so I'm excited, but I am also not Japanese, so said excitement is tempered.
My primary reason for liking GT (and Forza) is that I am not Himu, who is a flabby suck mutant.
it's true, i am on suicide watch because the only good thing on PS3 since launch is a $50 demo of a game due in 2009.
PS3 owners aren't just badly informed sheep, they are also gullible too!
Fingers crossed it's better than the sub-Forza prologue demo.
Better sharpen those razors !
p.s. everyone please recall that i said at least one PS3 fancock would say the phrase "... can my GOTY be a demo?" - to which the answer is "oh shut the fuck up"
seriously, who the fuck plays car games? get a driver's license ffs.
btw, i dont even own a ps3. i just wanted to call dcharlie out for being such a pathetic loser. so the mods can lock this thread now.

So far I like this post best.
calcifer, open another cool thread baiting dcharlie with the other upcoming PS3 masterpieces which will sink the 360: Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, and...uhm...
Yeah.
Well, to be honest, if I'd bought a PS3, I would be pretty pissed off too, considering the state of things.
oh and i am not kittonwy :stupidfaggotsmiley

You've been mentioning Uncharted a lot recently. Is that part of your plan?
it'll probably bomb like every ps3 game does. Two cars, including that damned GT-R, were running below the yellow line. If this was NASCAR, those two would be black flagged.
the game looks amazing, though.

lyte, will you be getting this?
:lol So no online racing on release day. You have to wait until 25 December and then download a patch. Good job, Sony!
Not really all that interested in this myself, but I did recently receive Forza 2 for free and tested it against the GT5P demo and I can't imagine how ANYONE could suggest that Forza 2 is the nicer looking game. In all honesty, I didn't even think Forza looked as nice as Ridge Racer 6. :\ It's very bland.sez the guy who believes ratchet-resistance are better looking games than cod4 ..
Still, I'm not a big fan of these games at this point, so they really only exist for graphical comparison purposes. :P
sez the guy who believes ratchet-resistance are better looking games than cod4 ..I take it you're a fan of low resolution textures, boxy environments, and unstable framerates then.

CoD4 is a nice enough looking game, but it's way too flawed to put it up there with the best looking games on the market. It doesn't even begin to compare to the likes of Gears of War, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Crysis, UT3, and the like. It feels like an enhanced Quake engine game (which is actually somewhat true).

GT looks noticeably nicer than Forza. But technically, are Forza and GT really that far apart? GT's graphics have always looked more "realistic" because everything is really dark and gritty. Ironically, GT's lighting is actually less real than most racers. I've yet to see a real world location where everything is darkly shaded in broad daylight.

Visually, GT is pushing something like 5,000 more polys/car with twice the amount of cars at a higher resolution. In terms of physics and stuff, I don't think PD has been as upfront, so I can't really compare, but Forza did calculations at some absurd rate.

i think what i find most confusing about this is the fact that (again) a sony first party game is shipping with online missing.
This isn't the first time for the region, and i doubt it'll be the last at this rate.
Motorstorm - no online for 5 months
Mingol - most of the online modes missing
GT5P - no online for first two weeks (i want to see how this pans out - i won't be surprised if the online doesn't make it until next year)
Seriously - Polyphony have to have been working on this since a good year or so before the launch (i know various versions/restarts happened, but come now... ) . I'm guessing they just don't have the online nouse or something.
Joates really is crazy though. Ask CajoleJuice what it's like to play CoD4 with him. He drives people nuts. Last night he got some guy so riled up I could hear him throwing shit.:lol He used to chomp tostitos into the mic. it was hilarious. and the shit he would say to strangers that wandered into the "gaf" room...he was absolutely hilarious.
I think Forza was pushing 360 calculations per second, remember Agent Icebeezy mentioning it time and time again. No idea why this guy Kyle is giving you shit considering the amount of time you put into F2, you were all over that game when it released. You played with Joates as well, who was one of the best players in the entire Forza community. That kid stinks at just about every 360 shooter, but you put a racer in his hands and my god. It's not even fair. I kept declining his invites to avoid the embarrassment.yeah I think it was something like 100,000-400,000 physics calculations possible at a time depending on what you were doing and the physics would be recalculated 360 times a second. it was so that when you go on the runway on seguna lena (I think that's how you spell it) at 180 mph, you can feel every fucking bump on your controller. GT is known for having a really distinct feel with those videogame steering wheels among the fans so I doubt they'll overhaul the physics from the PS2 version and make it completely realistic. It'll be improved (especially in the sim mode) but it has to keep the same general feel and I heard from fans of GT that it feels a lot like a real car when using the steering wheel.
Edit: Looking forward to some impressions.
Looks like Sony may have been touching stuff up a bit...
you should make as much noise as you can to get Polyphony to fix the issues this game obviously has, rally everyone you know to bitch about it until they make a game worthy of the GT moniker that actually takes the game into new realms and THEN and only then should you think about getting a PS3 IF they deliver.as i heard.. GT5 will come out late 2008.. theoretically, they should have much time to fix GT5P problems..
Quoteas i heard.. GT5 will come out late 2008.. theoretically, they should have much time to fix GT5P problems..
i think right now what i am most bummed with is that this is massively over priced at $50.
It really is quite the insult for quite how bare bones things are.
I'm 99% sure all the issues will be fixed for GT5 (i'd go for early 2009 myself) , but i am honestly shocked at how uninspired it all is. The previous Prologue left me gagging for more, but this one just feels like an insult.
1980 yen max was more appropriate.

i didn't mean i'd stop for TJH, there's another poster or two in there who said they've stopped posting/coming and , yeah, it's getting a little old on myside too.
Those "realistics" racing sims still seem pretty fake to me. Some of the cars I've driven IRL were able to pull off much tougher curves than they could in games. Making a Rt angle turn at 60 miles/hr really isn't hard as GT makes it appear to be.
