Seattle
Jacksonville
New York
San Diego

No real upsets, here. This round will be straightforward.

The only problem here is, New York gets a 3rd shot at Dallas if this is true. The fight they put up against the Pats, I expect a HUGE upset there.

Green Bay stomps Seattle to make it to the championship game.

If Jacksonville wins, their test will be against NE, and they won't win it. It'll be a damn good game, but they'll pull the ol "I FORGOT MY FUCKING PLAYBOOK" in the 3rd quarter like everyone else did against the Pats. San Diego will get creamed by Indy this time around. I expect Bob Sanders to have LT on his Fav 5 to save on minutes.

Going with these predictions, we have the championship games

Green Bay vs. New York
Tough for me to call as a Packer fan and you fucks not call me on bias, but I think the Packers can take them. Arguably the best cornerback duo* (Packers) in the NFL, and no Shockey means this team is going to get outmatched by the Packer's D.

Indianapolis
vs. New England
Game of the fucking year. The REAL Super Bowl. Harrison is back, and Indy is ready to play upset. My underdog pick of the fucking decade on this. Indy by 4.

Super Bowl

Green Bay vs. Indianapolis

Green Bay wins. Fuck you all. GO FAVRE

*Deion Sanders agrees with me. Best cornerback of all time calls it as it is. That means whatever you white meaningless feggits have to say about it, you'll be wrong. Fuck you and your teams. GO PACKERS

They haven't so far against better opponents!  Oh snap!  I think you're worried.

You're worried that the Packers might have to face the Redskins.  That would worry me too.

Because I was so worried when the Packers thrashed em earlier in the season.

I recommend you forget about this whole Sean Taylor storyline you've got going in your head before your world comes crashing down.

Yup.  I don't know–If Ben plays well considering the shit that's wrong with the offense, they probably could win the game.  But no Parker?  Ward banged up?  Polamalu banged up?

They're fucked.

 :lol

Redskins fans are happy they made the playoffs.  The fact that they were 5-7 at his funeral and managed to get to the playoffs with an ancient QB, makeshift offensive line, a wideout that remembers the first time Joe Gibbs coached and a white safety is a miracle.  We're all just happy they made it. :)

Redskins are playing with a lot of energy and poise. Seattle is definitely a good team but I just don't see them winning.

Pitt could give NE problems if they were healthy and playing well.

With regard to Favre...I would love to see the Packers get to the Superbowl. And another thing: NE isn't walking to the Superbowl. Indy is back, and oh man that's gonna be a good game.

I just hope it's not like last year, where the Super Bowl was boring in contrast to the Colts/Patriots AFC game.  And I don't see the Colts beating the Patriots.  The Colts barely beat them last year and that's because Tom Brady was throwing to wideouts that are slot receivers or fourth-stringers at best (having Reche on the 'Skins, who notoriously dropped several easy passes scares me).  So the Patriots went out and got stronger.  The Colts?  Not so much.  The Patriots play their best ball in winter and I don't think any team will slow them down.
Title: Re: NFL Playoff Thread - How many commercials will Peyton be in this time?
Post by: Stocky on January 02, 2008, 03:21:18 PM
Willco's forgetting that Indy almost beat em with 1 decent wideout this year.

I definitely would not go to Willco for any football tips.

You're insane, dude.

First, what happens in the regular season has no impact on the post season.  Thinking otherwise is stupid.

Second, the Colts lined up Reggie Wayne, who is arguably one of the best receivers in the game.  You could've combined every receiver on the Patriots roster from last year into one, single wideout and that person would still be less talented than Wayne.  Not to mention that Dallas Clark is a damn good TE and a much better option for Manning than Watson is for Brady.

But - hey! - you think the Packers are going to the Super Bowl, so that's funny.
Title: Re: NFL Playoff Thread - How many commercials will Peyton be in this time?
Post by: Phoenix Dark on January 02, 2008, 04:18:42 PM
Well that IS a good point. If the Colts could barely beat the Pats last year in the playoffs when Brady was throwing to highschool wideouts, they'll really have trouble against Boss Moss

Post by: The Fake Shemp on January 02, 2008, 04:25:11 PM
If Stallworth is healthy, he'll be a deep threat too.  Wes Welker is one of the better slot receivers in the game too.  Patriots are loaded.  The only thing hurting them is a consistent running game.  Maroney is not the same and I don't even know who is backing him up (Kevin Faulk?).  Shutdown coverage would force them to dink and dunk and run - and they're not setup for that very well right now.

I'd guess Stallworth will have a break out game before the end of the post season. Moss demands so much coverage. I didn't know Stallworth wasn't healthy though  ???

Don't the Pats have the 7th pick in the draft? :lol

Yep! 49ers really tanked this year.  Brady is only 30-years-old, and they have a good mix of old and young talent on there.  They've got another two seasons, three tops, to remain a superpower, but they'll be a perennial playoff contender for as long as Brady is there.

Brady could get 3 more rings. The team is stacked and in good position to replace the old guard (Bruschi, Seau, etc) when necessary. Hell they could trade the #7 pick and get more first round picks  :o

Lions fired Martz today (officially). Oh well, he was essentially the scape goat. It's annoying listening to sports radio today - the consensus seems to be that Martz is overrated and a main reason for the team's failure. It's hard to implement any system when you've got a backup QB starting and a bunch of WRs who either can't catch or can't stay healthy. I'm happy with 7 wins. But next year will probably be a step back

The Steelers are my contrarian pick. I am tired of the media riding the Jags and even going so far as saying they can beat the Patriots. The Jags will probably run like crazy and Garrard will not make any mistakes. That should be enough but I feel Roethlisberger can win the game for the Steelers. If the Jags are behind in the game I have no confidence in Garrard to mount a comeback. However if Pittsburgh is behind I am confident that Big Ben can bring them back.

Tell me how anyone logical, sensible, honest and non-bias person could even say and award Tom Brady as the MVP of the NFL this season?

All you have to do is go back to last year and look at his stats with no Randy Moss, Dante Stallworth and others. They (his stats from last year) are abysmal!

Quote
No, Brady got the award because the white media was looking to crown the new "Larry Bird". The great white hope. Bird like Brady, was sort of declared great and the hope of many whites even if he didn't want to.

Either way, Like Bird, Brady has come to embrace it and take full advantage of it. He is the new Champion of the white man's athletic world. Brady is the white athlete some caucasians feel is as good as "the brothas" if not better.

Wake up people and stop being HOODWINKED, BAMBOOZLED AND FOOLED! Read between the lines, quotes and columns the mainstream media tries to show down our throats daily and see what's really going on...

The struggle continues.

Giants are just too hot.  Green Bay is really good, but I don't think they'll be able to stop the Giants.  And I think the Giants have the pieces on defense to put the screws on Favre.

That Colts/Chargers matchup just shows that they won the Super Bowl last year because the NFC is so awful.

Giants are not "too hot". They really didn't play THAT well against the Cowboys. If they play on that level against GB, GB will beat the shit out of the Giants unless the Packers make the same distinguished mentally-challenged mental mistakes as the Cowboys. It's always a possibility with Favre as the QB.

You said the Redskins would beat Seattle. You lose everything just on that.

Maybe you missed the last time the Packers played the Giants, and the Giants only weapon (because everything else was SHUT...DOWN) was Shockey, and he's not playing. Packers now have a rushing game, which adds one more weapon they didn't have the first time around.

Offense - Packers
Defense - Packers
Special Teams - Packers
Coaches - Packers

Just like the Redskins are a lock to win it, right?

Giants have a the best pash rush in the league, and that's about it. The Patriots ravaged their secondary late in the game.

You'll rarely EVER hear of Randy Moss is Charles Woodson is playing him. And Welker is going to meet Al Harris, too.

Redskins fired Gregg Williams and Al Saunders.  Dan Snyder has hired himself as head coach.

... I'm not necessarily agains firing Williams.  I don't think he could've ever coexisted with Snyder.  But I don't know why he's not looking at more qualified coordinators or position coaches.  Why hasn't Russ Grimm been called, yet?

Despite the open lobbying by players, fans, and WashPost columnists, Snyder couldn't bring himself to promote Gregg Williams.  Oh well.  Looks like Danny boy's living up to a caricature of himself.  Here I thought he'd learned his lessons.
Title: Re: NFL Playoff Thread - How many commercials will Peyton be in this time?
Post by: The Fake Shemp on January 26, 2008, 06:54:39 PM
Yeah, the mind boggles.  I think Gregg Williams will be a good head coach and he doesn't deserve the headache he'd have to endure with Snyder.  Really fucking disappointing.  As much as I'd love for him to stick around, I still think he would not mesh with Snyder - it's like fitting a square peg in a round hole.

But instead of this promised continuity and stability - he's blown up the staff and made Vinny Cerrato, arguably the worst GM ever, the man in charge of football operations.

It's funny just how broad the support for Williams is around here.  Now we know what it takes to get Sally Jenkins and Thomas Boswell on the same side of an issue.

Boswell made an analogy to Peter Angelos running Davey Johnson out of town, and that sounds about right to me.  Remember how great that worked out.
Title: Re: NFL Playoff Thread - How many commercials will Peyton be in this time?
Post by: The Fake Shemp on January 27, 2008, 04:11:44 PM
Difference is Davey Johnson proved himself, whereas Gregg Williams has proven himself to be a great coordinator.  Whether or not he's a great head coach is to be determined.  It didn't work out well in Buffalo.
