I'm a MAJOR jazz fan - always good to see young folk cast aside their pitchfork playlists for a while and revel in the other 99% of awesome recorded music :)
There is no possible way of knowing what you might like straight off, but my faves are Charles Mingus, John Coltrane and Miles Davis. All 3 have more good stuff available than I can easily list. What have you heard so far?
l'd like to get some recommendations of classic (or just really good) jazz albums, if somebody is in the know?
The Epic is a 172-minute, three-volume set that includes a 32-piece orchestra, a 20-person choir, and 17 songs overlaid with a compositional score written by Washington. Pulsing underneath is an otherworldly ten-piece band, each member of which is individually regarded as among the best young musicians on the planet – including bassist Thundercat and his brother, drummer Ronald Bruner Jr., bassist (yes, there are two) Miles Mosley, drummer Tony Austin (of course there are two), keyboard player Brandon Coleman, pianist Cameron Graves, and trombonist Ryan Porter. Patrice Quinn’s ethereal vocals round out the ensemble.http://ninjatune.net/release/kamasi-washington/the-epic/
can someone recommend latin jazz that's not like all cutesy and stuff?

Uhh I am genuinely sorry that I have nothing else to contribute. Can't say I'm into jazz beyond the typical Coltrane and Miles Davis shit, but sometimes on my early-afternoon alcoholic days I pop on the jazz station and bliss out.
