People are suiciding here. I don't even like baseball at all but even I'm interested in this meltdown. Sports radio is hilarious. I'm used to this during the NFL season  :lol

YOU MOTHERFUCKER.

Your fault for not making the thread!

I'll change it over the course of the season. Maybe I should change it to 2-9, but 0-7 has a better ring to it.

hahahaha Rob Deer.  The early 90's Tigers must've had more strikeouts than any team ever.

Time to get Sparky Anderson back.

As a Blue Jays fan, I always made sure to watch every game they played against the Tigers in the late 80's and early 90's. I loved Tiger Stadium, Fielder, and all the K's Toronto pitchers would pile up.

Whom will they face in the first round? I don't like their chances against either the Spurs or the Jazz! Steve Nash is looking like an old man ou there.

True true true. I think they could pull off an upset but we'll see. If they go out in the first round the Shaq trade will look even worse. This is their year. Shaq was put in a good position of not having to play a full season with them, but next year expect him to be hurt and hobbled up again

You should get on board with the Mavericks. Nobody expects them to do anything this year, so you'll be like the guy that picked the Giants to win the Superbowl if they win it all. The Jason Kidd experiment, man, it's finally coming together. :rock

I went to the Nationals-Braves game in D.C. last night. It was a pretty uneventful game, but we had a nice time, and the stadium is really nice. Safeco Field is much better, but Nationals Stadium is a good place to catch a game.

With that said, go M's! Stick it to the Angels again tonight!

edit: Also, I was on the Metro this morning and overheard some stupid teenager whining about how the Seahawks pump in canned noise to Qwest Field, which is the only reason why we beat the Redskins. I really wanted to respond, but I thought better of it.

its been what a week and a half? Betcha KJ is in the .900s and Esco is in the .700s by the end of the year Lili is the future at SS but im getting the feeling Wren will deal him either to the White Sox for Javy Vazquez or to the Blue Jays for AJ Burnett at the Trade deadline

I will take that bet, sir.  Honestly I expect both of them to end up in the .850 neighborhood.  I definitely expect Kelly to improve, but I think that Escobar is far more capable than you give him credit for.  And if I were Wren I would pull the trigger on the Vasquez trade.

Just came back from the A's/Mariners game tonight with CrystalGemini.  We waited an hour in line for $1 hot dogs (we ordered five per person!), only to find them barely cooked at mediocre room temperature!  Also, Oakland lost.  What bums.  The only good thing was that they gave out free fleece throws and the Colliseum attracts a crazy unbalanced ratio of attractive, young women to a mish-mash of men in their late 20s to 50s.  I can only guess that the guys are there trying to live vicariously through their favorite team members and the women go there to see the hot baseball players.

Yeah, they booed him pretty fierce at the Colliseum.  Which is odd.  Usually star players get that weird, equal mix of cheers and jeers from an away crowd, but Ichiro was booed like he was Barry Bonds.

There isn't a lot of parking at the Nationals new stadium, and it seems like they were using the lack of parking spaces as leverage to make people buy season tickets.  They ran an ad showing someone who had bought single tickets driving around forever, unable to find parking.

That's kind of a dick move and it's probably something only the Redskins could pull off in this area.  But if it makes people use the Metro, I'm all for it.

PS Zach Greinke!  This is his fifth consecutive year as my sleeper pitcher, and finally everything's coming up Milhouse.

We took the Metro to the Nationals game last Friday night. With the current price of gas, and the traffic problems in the D.C. area, I don't see why anyone would want to drive.

This is the year Franc takes the next step and becomes a major player
He might even get a few walks this year!

lol, yea. He doesnt like to walk does he?

But I'm so glad that our highers ups were right about Andruw Jones. LOL. Poor Dodgers, stuck with a huge salary player who cant hit anymore apparantly.

Whats he hitting? .176?

(Yea, I know the season's early.)

Adam Dunn already has 250 career home runs, despite hitting below .250 for his career. He's only 28 year old, so he'll probably end up with over 500 homers. It makes me wonder if he'll make the hall of fame. :rofl :rofl

When will Chipper dip below .400? June? July? August?

Also the trade rumors going around regarding the RAYS are epic and will guarantee a World Series contending team this year (and lets be honest, this years rays will be the worst out of the upcoming years. MLB AM DOOMED CONFIRMED). Talks of CC Sabathia, Zach Grienke, Harden

Oh my god I might jizz myself from this excitement.

It is baffling.

Oliver Perez and Daniel Cabrera are both in the Randy Johnson mold: tall power pitchers who have fearsome stuff but struggle with control and consistency.

I was going to give them a nickname in the Baby Shaq mold, but the one that made the most sense was calling them The Little Units and that could carry a different, less flattering meaning.

No, they haven't been good for a while.  This season is the first that they've had a decent rotation.  Adding Garza and Shields, while having Edwin Jackson and Sonnanstine way overperform has made them into contenders this year.  The thing is, they could have done this years ago by trading any of their plethora of outfielders but finally figured it out this past offseason.  smh.

I think Rocco Baldelli getting hurt is the best thing to happen to the Rays foundation, because they realized they had enough OF-ers (even though they keep signing more RF-ers! Gomes, Hinske, Gross) and needed to build up the bullpen (can you believe we have THE BEST bullpen in the majors?!)

I can understand cheering for new upstart teams, especially a franchise like TB that has struggled so much in the past, but abandoning your team altogether for another ''winning'' team is annoying.

Yeah, but I'm not abandoning my team.

No worries, DM, I wasn't referring to you.  I only have love for you and your cool giant robot tastes.   :-*

I go to other MLB boards were I find people jumping ship and it is depressing.  I mean full on jumping on the Rays bandwagon.

I went to the M's game on Memorial Day when Boston was in town. I was absolutely disgusted by all the suburbanites wearing red and cheering on the Red Sox. I'm sure 80% of them have never even been to Boston.

Ricardi aint awfull. Hes better than many gms in the league.

J. P. Ricciardi is a bad general manager. After seven years, after three managers, after more than doubling the Blue Jays payroll, the team is still very mediocre. With the time and resources he's been given, he's proven to be a bad evaluator of talent.

He's drafted poorly: very few players on the active roster have been drafted by him, and the farm system is one of the worst ranked in baseball.

He has made bad trades: guess who traded away Chad Gaudin?

He's overpaid for players: he's given too much money to Wells; Thomas, who isn't even on the roster; Burnett; and Ryan.

Ricciardi has had his chance and he has failed.

In the early 90's, the Blue Jays didn't have any problems getting Americans to play in Canada. If the team was well-run and winning, it would be able to attract good players again.

Anyway, let's say you're right. That means that the Blue Jays need to draft and trade well. And I think if they had a chimp with a dart board running the team over the last seven years, they'd have done no worse.

Josh Hamilton hit a lot of home runs in the first round of a home run derby.
Thus, there is a god!

Speaking of home runs

The Blue Jays leader in home runs is a short, forty-year-old, Canadian, utility player.  :lol :lol
