I just randomly caught this on TV, weird. It's awesome, by the way. awesome.
ps: What a shitty show, Geoff Keighly is a kook.
-
holy shit

hehe

Looks great. I hope they put as much attention to detail in the game as 4 had as well.

2009 GOTY confirmed
-
So they are sticking with the Las Plagas approach? Or maybe an unholy awesome mix? God damn that's hot.
Another god damn for Fracture. I don't think I've seen anything quite so remarkably meh as that in a while. Seems almost low budget.

i love this shit.

lol wut

looks cool.
Kinda feel those "gameplay" segments looks a little to similar to RE4 in terms of movement. Kinda hope they would of eliminated tanks controls by now.
-
I was just at a bar watching this! It was pretty sweet!
-
I can't remember the last time my penis was this hard. I guess witnessing video of the best game of all time will do that.
:bow Capcom :bow2
-
Graphics took an obvious hit since the early videos but the game still looks like it's going to be great. My only wish is for a Mercanaries co-op. That would be sweet.
-
Looks awesome, but I hope you're not constantly being swarmed like that in combat.
-
Like how they use/manipulate the 'camera' to add that extra power to your action (you can see it clearly in the various gifs). Going to be intense.

As I recall, one of the first interviews with the producer referenced Black Hawk Down and a constant hunt situation.

Yup. The way the camera shakes during the infamous punch gif is amazing.

lolololol
Someone at capcom fucked up and uploaded wallpapers(screens?) with the bullshot/shooping instructions still intact.

:lol

Someone just got fired, eh? I mean, before they were released.
-
Look great. The female character is pretty hot.
-
I hope they tone down the color effect a bit.
I prefer the "lighter" look of the previous trailer.
-
Does Capcom usually do a pretty good job with the PC versions of multiplatform games?

lost planet was great except for the multi part, dunno if they fixed it or not since i don't play pc games.
-
Ah, yeah... I played the DX10 demo of that, ran surprisingly well. Ok, so that's good news, I really want to experience this game in all its possible gory glory. It's always nice to see genuine masterpieces in the making. :D

I hope so as I'm considering the doubledip for DMC4.
-
Ugh, I was hoping we'd see a next-gen Jill Valentine.
But this mysterious chick looks good too.
Oh btw, the game looks awesome.

T.I.A.
-
Definitely looks cool, but everything shown so far is what we've already done in RE4: shoot down an oncoming truck, tangle with rabid dogs, snipe explosive barrels, fight a berserk chainsaw guy, etc. I just hope there are a ton of surprises since I don't see anything novel in the gameplay. I heard rumors that it would use a dodge mechanic similar to God Hand's, and while that sounds intriguing, I haven't seen anything to back it up.
Oh, and either Capcom is completely oblivious to the whole racial controversy (highly unlikely) or they're embracing it: "There's no humanity here" followed by "Welcome to Africa." Hot black female heroine works well though.
-
I'm not going to bother getting excited unless they confirm no escort shit.
-
this looks FUCK AMAZING. first next gen game to actually impress me. however, like tvc says, if it has escort shit like re4: fuck it in the ear.
-
I thought RE4 actually did a surprisingly good job with the escort deal, at least in some missions. The one where you have to keep the monks away so that Ashley can tend to getting the bridge working, that was actually a pretty cool scene.
-
RE4 is the only game I can think of that didn't have an obnoxious escort mission. At least you could put Ashley in the dumpster while you cleared out a room.
-
It's clear no black man was involved in making this trailer. ::)
-
Game looks fucking amazing, never got into the RE series but this one I'm gonna make it a priority to play.
-
cant fucking wait. Game is going to actually be too good
-
fuck you guys the escort stuff in RE4 was ace. first time i ever felt an emotional bond with a videogame character. i didn't want anything to happen to her. it was like having a white sister :'(
RE5: the game that will make me buy a next gen (360) system in 2009 :bow

:rofl
I don't agree with you, but I had no problems with the escort stuff like TVC, Prole, and Himuro did.
-
do all white sisters offer to get it on with you if you save them irl? :-\
i only killed ashley once, after which i had to put down the game for a couple days: she was being carried away by the monks so i tried to shoot him in the leg...but i hit ashley in the face instead :'(
-
the escort shit in RE4 was really minor and did not detract from the game at all. Hell, I liked shooting the monks in the back while they were carrying Ashely and seeing her bail lol
-
The escort aspect of RE4 was goddam brilliant. I hate escort missions as much as anyone, but it never felt like a horrible unfair chore in RE4. It was awesome.

This has got to be one of the hardest parts of the game for me. But damn I love it.
-
escort missions are never good
you cannot trick me
nope dont wanna hear it
no
As for re5 the footage looks great but I do not look forward to those attack dogs :(
-
Same sentiments here as archie, PD, et al.: escort missions typically suck, but I thought it worked out great in RE4. They're careful not to throw too much shit at you whenever Ashley's tagging along; if they do, there's usually a dumpster nearby. The worst part is when you're in the room with the huge ball and chain you operate to bust open a wall. I remember running out of ammo in that room on multiple playthroughs.

updated op with hd trailer.

Still way too much vanilla in my chocolate. This is supposed to be Africa, right? Get rid of the blonde Red Cross workers and give me more darkies. Looks too much like a Benetton ad right now.

Eurogamer preview
It's also the setting we're being shown in playable form on Xbox 360. Takeuchi's colleague Masachika Kawata is on pad duties, and he picks up Chris Redfield trapped in a kitchen defending multiple entrances, besieged by sunburnt zombies keen to get out of the heat and cut open his head with machetes. As they advance, he lowers his sights and shoots them in the leg to slow them down. They clutch at the wounds when shot, even though they're far from fatal, suggesting that Resi 5's zombs can still feel some degree of pain even if they've "lost all semblance of humanity" as Takeuchi helpfully points out. Shots to the head do the trick though, and, once floored, enemies bubble away to nothing following some phosphorescent agitation.
After the zombies breach the ceiling above him and the tide becomes too heavy to turn back, Chris makes a break for it and hotfoots it outside, and starts touring the town to make his escape. "This environment is right at the start of the game," Takeuchi explains as Kawata plays, and is "about four times the size of the village at the start of Resident Evil 4". It's a mess of half-built walls and wonky picket-fences, tyre piles, skeletal buildings loosely cobbled out of planks and steel poles, filled out with market stalls, burnt out cars and the charred husks of buses. Everything is rust and decay, and even the clothes flapping on washing lines are muddy rags.
The draw distance is huge, though, and while the area appears enclosed (at least for the purposes of our demo, perhaps), Chris has lots of paths to choose. Kawata directs him up some ramps onto gangways, and Takeuchi points out that there will be more vertical gameplay. Chris can leap across gaps and hop back down to the ground with contextual action-button usage, ala Resident Evil 4, and the environment is partially destructible.
Door handles can be shot out of the decaying wood, stalls and walls are swept away by grenade explosions, and Chris can fire at oil drums lying around, which envelop anything nearby in flames. In the trailer, we're shown Chris sniping a barrel on a bridge in the distance to take out a group of enemies, and upending a truck that's charging towards him by doing something explosive to flip it onto its side.
His enemies aren't all raggedy zombies, though; the meanest one we're shown is a hooded executioner figure with a giant battleaxe, who follows the player relentlessly, swinging his massive weapon with impunity, sweeping away the environment and even his undead colleagues in his hunt for Chris. When Kawata flees indoors, the hooded monster smashes through a nearby wall, ruining his defence.
Other enemies are shown in the trailer - the dogs are back, of course, and zombies with retractable facial tentacles that grab the player by the head - but the most interesting is the guy with the chainsaw, who appears to retain enough coordination and problem-solving ability to cut through the lock on a metal gate. Chris isn't messing about in the armoury stakes though. You can now switch weapons in real-time, and we get to see a pistol, shotgun and machinegun, while grenades will include explosive and incendiary - the former sends zombies flying in a geyser of dirt. We're also told there will only be one melee weapon - the knife.

Real-time weapon change! :o
Couldn't have done it without Genji 2. :bow2

I see the other forum can't get past the control scheme. I'll admit that I was skeptical of it prior to playing RE4, but once I got into the control system it felt awesome. I don't know why people are so eager to make every damned game fit into the same mold, and to change something that actually works.

I agree. Of course, I have no problem with tank controls at all anyway. The only concession I can see is Capcom allowing you to execute some sort of attack (no standard attack) while running full sprint.
-
RE4 and RE5 are only barely in the "survival horror" category largely thanks to their still-slow pacing. Non-tank controls would turn it into a run-of-the-mill run-and-gun 3rd person shooter.
If anyone wants that, then they are unlikely to be a survival horror/RE fan and should instead play the multitude of other games that offer that type of gameplay.

What the fuck are they looking at?
They're not even paying attention to Chris, it's like someone called their names while they were in the middle of attack.
-
I think Chris is going down on them. They might resist, but he knows his duty.
