She'll probably suspend her campaign, not end it.
Basically leaves the option of the convention going with her should the obama boat capsize for whatever reason

Just got a call from my grandma, crying over the phone and saying "he won, he won." She said she's not even concerned about November, and right now is just happy that it's now official: a black man is a nominee for president.:lol :lol

probably, but like willco said to deny the possibility makes no sense to me.
This is seriously the plot of a great political thriller. Hotly contested primary ends in first African-American nominee, but scorned and bitter political rival sets up an easy assassination on account of relatively prevalent racism still alive in the country. Can anyone stop this diabolical plot?
Im sure if he did get assassinated by hillary all the liberals would blame the racist red necks of the country. I mean the wife of a former democrat president cant be racist at all? Right guys right? The former first lady of Arkansas can be a racist. So we're back to square one.
no one in this thread is even arguing that. what is your fucking point? :lol
it must burn knowing that Paul has endorsed Obama's foreign policy.

South Carolina does barbecue and racism way better than Texas. What the fuck? Keep your cousin fuckin' sissy ass steaks and sausages out of here.

My dad is from Texas and we have a custom built smoker in our backyard. He knows the Carolina's do better barbecue, as do I.I don't like this side of you. I didn't think you were a liar. Are you secretly a republican? Or maybe a Hillary-bot?
She is not giving up.
She carried the popular vote in primaries, guys!* **

The Iowa speech was better. I liked the illusion of a non-partisan Obama more. This new guy sucks.

he's had more of an impact on civil rights than MLK! if Obama wins
Forgive me if this observation is old news in the US, but this is really starting to remind me of Bush-Gore Indecision 2000. No-one can really 'win' at this point.
I moved from a deep red state to a deep blue state, so I can continue not voting in style.
It does. You're a bit older than the target demographic, but a lot of young folks that just got that awesome ability to vote won't vote in primaries. Especially in certain states.

Is this based off of some chat with a guy who came into gamestop?
1. Registered republicans that will vote for Obama (like me!)
siamesedreamer... Uh, it's pretty easy - I don't like McCain and the Republican leadership in Congress.
Flame, I generally support the core values of the Republican party (not all of them), but I do not support a party cought up in a religious fervor, supporting the Iraq war and a Presidential nominee that lacks any kind of context with the modern world.
If we're gonna be blowing billions a week on some asinine pursuit I'd rather have it be on health care and education than killing brown people someplace.
You guys know there is a pretty good median between the dems and the repubs that wants tolower taxes, legalize drugs, end the Iraq war immediately and shred any kind of resemblance of the patriot act.spoiler (click to show/hide)LP :'([close]
What do you support? The part of the party that you didnt mention is the smaller government lower taxes part. Is that what you support? If so then you might as well be voting for Nader in terms of Obama representing that.
I will vote for anyone who wants to legalize pot, for any position, ever.http://www.lp.org/ (http://www.lp.org/)
Why would I throw my vote away? That's ridiculous.
You can't be naive enough to think that there is a candidate out there that reflects EVERYTHING you want. Sometimes you compromise. Obama is my compromise. I'm willing to eat some Democratic reforms to get this country back on track, on account of how entirely fucked up it is.

- Lower taxesWTF
- Small government
- No hand outs
- Social freedoms (stop banning smoking and other du :duhmb shit)
- Guns!
- Closed borders
etc.
etc.
I really didn't know I had to spell that stuff out when I said CORE VALUES.

Obama is so far removed from the republican parties values that I cant even imagine why any one registered in the republican party would vote for him. Do you even know what values you do stand for.
You still havent said what values you do like.
Oh my God, I really don't know why I unlepered you.

I'm willing to eat some Democratic reforms...
Y DONT U VOTE 4 REPUBLICANS
Because the party isn't even concerned with its core values. Its too busy trying to fund the military-industrial complex and pander to the religious right, while wrecking the entire fucking country. Yes, I will vote for Obama because I will suck up Democratic reforms to get out of this third world sinkhole we're creating for ourselves
HOW HARD IS THIS TO SEE?
Socialist reforms can always be reigned in...
(What is lepering and how do I avoid it?)
Socialist reforms can always be reigned in, but the direction the Republican party is leading us is pretty much Fall of Rome-type shit.
And seriously, if a third-party candidate had a likely shot at winning in the general election, that I would sincerely look at that candidate.
I will vote for anyone who wants to legalize pot, for any position, ever.http://www.lp.org/ (http://www.lp.org/)spoiler (click to show/hide)Ron Paul[close]
Oh I meant someone who might win.
The Rome-type shit you speak of is all about economics, our foreign policy is a minor part. And contrary to what you say social reforms are almost never "reigned in."
See, to me its not about their chance of winning its about supporting what you believe in.
And social reforms are easier to correct or change than trying to figure out what to do with thousands of our troops stuck in a devastated country...
I don't have the luxury of being an idealist. I have bills to pay. I'd like to live in a country that isn't comparable to some Eastern European sattelite country.
We can’t let this site die - we need to go into scorched earth mode. It will require posting as a Dem not aligned with Hill but against Obama, without being overt.
Like “I am a Democrat, but I have reservations about Obama. I’m just not sure he is ready to be president. I am worried about his ties to radicals and if he could provide security for me and my family. He seems to be a nice guy, but, I have worries. Safety for my family comes before all else..”
You get the idea. Fan out to every news site available.

No its not. You simply pull them out.
Now try figuring out how to pay for Medicare without wrecking the economy. There's really no comparison.

You're warping my words. It's easier to reign in social reforms than to destabilize other countries, funnel money and resources that need to be spent here on said countries, continue to rip apart an entire region with horrible foreign policy, etc.
Social reforms can be thrown out, changed or reigned in. We can correct those. Why worry about social reforms when we are literally plummeting into the third circle of hell?

Whats doubled? Maybe you could argue Gas but thats been a long time coming. We had cheap gas for long time and now its going back to normal prices.

Where is the father? Why is she a mother of 3?
Dude, have you been to a grocery store? Even the price of milk has gone up. Locally, the price of eggs has gone up twice as much within the past year. Food is getting more expensive.
Now imagine trying to feed your kids.
Its not 'going back to normal'. The rise in gas prices is SPURRED by RECENT changes in global demand you fuck moran. its not NORMAL if its NEVER BEEN before.http://mises.org/story/2940 (http://mises.org/story/2940)
First, we need to take into account inflation. The result of the Federal Reserve printing too much money is a loss of purchasing power of the dollar: something that cost $1.00 in 1950 would cost about $8.78 today. As for gas prices, in 1950 the price of gas was approximately 30 cents per gallon. Adjusted for inflation, a gallon of gas today should cost right at $2.64, assuming taxes are the same.
But taxes have not stayed the same. The tax per gallon of gas in 1950 was roughly 1.5% of the price. Today, federal, state, and local taxes account for approximately 20% of gas's posted price. Taking inflation and the increase in taxes into account (assuming no change in supply or demand) the same gallon of gas that cost 30 cents in 1950 should today cost about $3.13.
Texas has the advantage of having a lot of food grown close.
Gas costs $4.20 here.time to smoke up?
Gas costs $4.20 here.
Gas costs $4.20 here.
I'm looking out the window and I see $3.80.
Texas :punch
It's $4.42 here.
We should've all voted for Nader :'(
Gas is $4.90 CDN a gallon, if I converted correctly. And housing prices are pretty silly in most Canadian cities.

So what if Obama wins and turns out to be a terrible President? How many decades do you think it will be before whitey decides to trust another brown skinned President?
I am pretty sure that Barack Obama is actually the Anti-Christ and has orchestrated most of the horrific events of the past decade to create such a cry for change that we would have no choice but to vote for him... but he is actually evil incarnate!
Why worry about social reforms when we are literally plummeting into the third circle of hell?
Holy crap. The cost of gas is going up every day here. Last week, it was like 11 cents cheaper. I'm pretty sure it'll be above $5 soon.

Ignoring that social programs have a tangible benefit for millions of Americans
So what you're saying is Barack Obama is going to totally ignore the Social Security problem...
If you talk about the need to severely cut those programs, you need to explain why it's okay for seniors to have a much lower standard of living and medical care and/or why it's fair for the burden of senior care to be shifted to their adult children.
See Federwang? Now do you see? It can't be reasoned with. It can't be bargained with. It can't be talked to rationally in any way, shape or form. It WILL suck up hours of your time debating absolutely pointless shit and never concede a point even though you've linked to facts supporting your arguments.

Yeah, I haven't heard of Bush being called the most conservative president either. I'm sure it was mentioned by someone, but to say the term "most conservative ever" is being thrown around as uselessly and often as "most liberal ever" is laughable.

There was this awesome TV show on Japanese TV last night where some university professor had used some NASA material to clean up the rivers in China. These rivers had a pH of 10 or something and all the life had died. He used strings of this NASA material and it cleared up pretty much totally, with lots of life coming back gradually. It was very heart-warming. Thank Jesus for NASA!

Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama vowed Wednesday he would work to "eliminate" the threat posed by Iran to security in the Middle East and around the globe. "There's no greater threat to Israel or to the peace and stability of the region than Iran," he told the powerful pro-Israel lobby, the American Israel Public Affairs Council (AIPAC). "The danger from Iran is grave and real and my goal will be to eliminate this threat," he said, adding loudly to add emphasis that he would "everything" to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Meh, boring. Let me know when a presidential candidate get the balls to call out Israel.

bush would probably say "The danger from Iran is grave and real and my goal will be to elimidate this threat,"
Iran is a serious threat. I've said for awhile that Bush has invaded the wrong country. Iraq was an isolated dictatorship that obviously posed no real threat. That said, we don't have the resources or the international goodwill to launch a military campaign against Tehran, and I highly doubt Obama is interested in doing so.
Iran also has a pretty progressive youth movement, so I think most are hoping that they change their own country.

Indeed. We should have invaded the home country of 15 of the 9/11 hijackers: SAUDI FUCKING ARABIA.

Who do you think funded Hezbollah, which led to to the total destabilization of Lebanon after they captured those two Israeli soldiers
I know they fund Hezbollah but it's funny to see the leaps required to directly blame them for wahtw Israel did.
Who DOESNT want to wipe israel off the map in that region. Seriously. Its not like Israel is innocent anyway. That whole area is fucked.

Yes, yes it is. And the only way to protect American is by leaving and letting them take care of themselves.

But then there is the whole thing about the jews being "God's people" and America being primarily of christian faith and it being the christian "holy land". It's not like they will let the muslims have it.
Jews do well in the ME so long as they're slaves or subjects.
As you mentioned, about 2/3 of the country is under 25. I'm guessing that's because a lot of the older generation was killed in the Iran-Iraq war so the country probably isn't interested in starting a war (not that they ever did start a war).I know they fund Hezbollah but it's funny to see the leaps required to directly blame them for wahtw Israel did.I'm not quite sure what Hezbollah thought Israel would do when they kidnapped their soldiers, y'know, since the country has a long standing history of being peacefully diplomatic with hostile forc- OH WAIT. The whole thing was a manipulation.
Mandark, I generally agree that Iran doesn't want regional domination, and as I stated, is working towards becoming a power broker. But quite frankly, if we're dealing with the same type of people in power a few decades from now, when Iran pretty much controls the interests of the Middle East, are we that safe?
I'm not quite sure why you don't think a conflict is inevitable. Its leader pretty much wants to wipe Israel off the map and so far, has been playing its cards quite well in the region. Yeah, they're just a cub right now, but soon they'll be a tiger.
I feel it's important to address the threat, but not necessarily with bullets. We shouldn't downplay the long term threat, though.

ABC reports that Clinton is dropping out Friday, which I'm trying to confirm.http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/
In any case, it's become clear this afternoon that as the reality has sunk in, this is a matter of choreography and psychology, of what form the inevitable takes.
The Clinton drama has competed for attention, one last time, with the scope and meaning of Obama's win. Now, it's Obama's party, and he will finally have the spotlight to himself.
No one would call someone voting Republican racist
Roll Call reports that during a Senate vote today, Sen. Barack Obama "dragged" Sen. Joe Lieberman "by the hand to a far corner of the Senate chamber and engaged in what appeared to reporters in the gallery as an intense, three-minute conversation."http://politicalwire.com/
"While it was unclear what the two were discussing, the body language suggested that Obama was trying to convince Lieberman of something and his stance appeared slightly intimidating."
"Using forceful, but not angry, hand gestures, Obama literally backed up Lieberman against the wall, leaned in very close at times, and appeared to be trying to dominate the conversation, as the two talked over each other in a few instances."
"Still, Obama and Lieberman seemed to be trying to keep the back-and-forth congenial as they both patted each other on the back during and after the exchange. Afterwards, Obama smiled and pointed up at reporters peering over the edge of the press gallery for a better glimpse of their interaction."
Why is removing something from history (genocide plus scrubbing the record) somehow different or better than removing something from a map? Don't you also have to remove map labels if you're erasing a historical record of something?Based on his tone and THE WORDS HE USED, he was more likely implying that the creation of Israel was wrong but not that invading Israel is right. I will not trust anything you say on this subject until you learn Farsi. I did so you have to too.

An interesting tidbit now that Obama is the nominee and in light of Bush's congratulations today for Obama:
”Jan Schakowsky told me about a recent visit she had made to the White House with a congressional delegation. On her way out, she said, President Bush noticed her ‘Obama’ button. ‘He jumped back, almost literally,’ she said. ‘And I knew what he was thinking. So I reassured him it was Obama, with a 'b.' And I explained who he was. The President said, 'Well, I don't know him.' So I just said, 'You will.' " (New Yorker, 5/31/2004)
