Koei revealed the PS2 version of Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Special [Dynasty Warriors 6 Special] will have an enhanced Musou Mode, over 40 characters will have his/her own stories in the Musou Mode, and three characters will have new designs, special skills and weapons, they are Cao Pi, Ling Tong and Ma Chao. Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Special will be released in September 2008, for 7140 yen.
It's like Koei themselves has finally admitted that the original version was a huge disappointment. But why is this PS2-only? Why not release it for PS3 and 360 as well?
September is also when Musou Orochi 2 hits the 360. Get that instead, because it spanks DW.

koei is tired of next gen already.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
dw6 disappoints me more and more every time i play it. musou orochi 2 is the way to go until next year.

I guess it's time to get rid of Shin Sangoku Musou 5. I only kept it in the hopes an expansion would be released. Koei next-gen sucks. :-\

Only DW games I havent regretted purchasing lately are gundam musou and orochi warriors psp
They really need to do a Gundam Empires game.

You will not regret the second Orochi game either. It's gold! (Although it does feel like more of the same. Big surprise, I know)
They really need to do a Gundam Empires game.
This would be perfect for Gundam. It's kind of surprising that they haven't done this already.

I'm hoping for a new Gundam Musou announcement at TGS.

When is TGS? We are definitely due for a new musou announcement (besides DW6 special.)

I would like to see Dynasty Warriors be done justice on DS. Not like the abomination they released last year.
Also it's time for a new Musou. They've done ancient China. They've done feudal Japan. They've done big-ass robots. It's time for something else. How about making Bladestorm into a Musou game? Europe needs representation!

how on earth could you do a dw game "justice" on a ds

That's for Koei to find out and not me!
Dunno, maybe a beat-em-up style game would work. The overhead thing clearly doesn't.

since i've lived in japan i've played all the musou games in japanese. one of the most fun parts is translating the story. dw6 sucked because it departed from a lot of what happened in the book, moreso than the other games. on the other hand since orochi musou is nothing but fan service translating and understanding the story and which armies formed a rebellion versus which were subdued by orochi was interesting. i LOVED the fact that nobunaga never gave up because he saw orochi as nothing more than another demon like himself (though i don't know how many of evilbore know or care about his real history).

europe would be cool, especially if it involved russia and sweden circa the 1300s, but after i did an anthropology report i thought that ancient egypt musou would be fucking phenomenal. unfortunately the time period is spread so far that it would be hard to get ramses II in with tuthmosis III along with the hittites and hysksos and still have a believable game. unlike the three kingdoms period which took place over the course of 80 years (or so) egypt was done over a thousand and some change.
korea also had a three kingdoms period that was pretty crazy in the early 500s which would make a good game.

good call oscar.

They should completely and utterly rip off Dragon Force.
God, why won't anyone completely and utterly rip off Dragon Force?
Wait, sort of like how Dragon Force ripped off Romance of the Three Kingdoms?
-
Yes, and somehow made it interesting instead of yawn-inducing. So if Koei could go ahead and make RotTK interesting (in a way other than Musou, obviously), I'd be much obliged.
Oh. See, I loved RTK VIII, X, and XI, while I never played Dragon Force with its animu talking-heads for more than a few hours. Cinematic battles might be worth a try in RTK, but XI's turn-based country-wide-map warfare is just awesome.
