Going no carb on us? I might give this a shot tonight actually; I have some wagyu and corn in the fridge. Asparagus shouldn't be hard.

It's our second wedding anniversary today, but my wife has class tonight so we can't go out or anything. Seeing how I've got all summer off with nothing better to do, I attempted homemade lasagna this afternoon. Hopefully it doesn't kill us both!

At least for dinners, trying to cut back on refined carbs, yes.

Damn, the meal in the OP looks good.

For me: two homemade veggie wraps (whole wheat).

I love me some lasagna.  What kind of lasagna is it? :-*

Good ol' regular ground beef with ricotta cheese and tomato sauce lasagna.

I wish I had the strength. I did low-carb for most of a year and it sure as hell works but damn, it makes cooking and eating boring as hell. It's also really tough in Japan, where damn near every meal is built around rice.

That's the way to do it 8)

Yeah, especially when you're not skilled in cooking. My wife loves to cook, so I don't get to mess around much in the kitchen.

pan-cooked pork tenderlion medallions with root vegetables and fresh cherries in a kriek beer reduction served on a brown rice pilaf.

One of my favorite dishes. Unmistakably Belgian, unmistakably awesome.

Do it!

I make his spicy pumpkin fritters from The Naked Chef as a side dish all the time. Much more nutritious and tasty than french fries. You don't have to be slavish about following his directions for the spices either; if I'm in a hurry, i just mix some cajun seasoning or chili powder with olive oil and baste them.

Did you have any frites with the meal? Belgian food is pretty awesome, we have a really good restaurant around here called Waterzooi, which specializes in mussels cooked up all different ways, frites, foie gras, and other good Belgian and French fare.

This thread needs more pictures! Rman, that looks really good...

I'd love to learn how to make pommes frites. Like, the really thin kind you get with steak and at German restaurants.
